XD i think my chances of finding my bike in any wreckers would be a mish in itself, plus fark all bike wreckers up here, they're all down towards slacks creek. Are the FZR ones identical to the FZX's?
Sprayed carby cleaner of boots this morning I think one may have an air leak, upload vid to youtube now so once uploaded will post here to get a second opinion
Thats what i thought as well. So the second boot must be rooted the rest have outside cracks but as you could hear didn't seem to suck anything in. Next question is do i just replace the one or am i better off just replacing all four and be done with it?
Depends what price you find them for I would guess. Also check the ring clamp to make sure it's not bent when closed.
I would replace all 4 of them with new. Using second hand from wreckers may be as bad as what you have in a couple of months time.
And good luck finding replacements ........... Its been awhile since Ive looked but if u find any , be prepared to mortgage your house to buy them.
Get all the part numbers you want prices of and I will try ultimate motorcycles at slacks creek as well for you for you like.
it's a shame each boot has a seperate part # who couldn't it just be a set with one part # XD But yeah if you have the time to grab me a quote that'd be awesome. Part #'s are Boots 1HX-13586-00 1HX-13596-00 3YX-13586-00 3YX-13596-00 Filter 3TJ-14451-00
Too funny! I think you could get them from Hirochi for less than half that. Mr Grey did you see my post about your wheel bearings?
Just google part number and hirochi like this http://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/hirochi/1hx-13586-00.html In any case I don't believe they are leaking but that is just me. I would check those joining hoses that they use between each pair of rubbers though.
I know what im about to say is "bush mechanics"but on my mates honda we cleaned the outside of the boot and coated it in clear silicon keeping with the same shape-it worked a treat until he could afford a new one...Ken
Bit out there but could u machine nylon ones slot section out and drill hole top and bottom to tighten?
Yea Ken that was wat I was going to suggest .... coat them in silicone at least to test to see if its the problem
My next move would be as Ken suggested , silicone up all the boots and as Blair suggested , put all the stock airbox back on with no filter take it for a run.
