1 to Phil ! 200mls of Motuls best and bingo Touchy bastards these things. By the way ..... key on = oil light on kill switch on = oil light off
You want an SDO5F-R (R is just for the red version) They are usually all over ebay ... especially ebay.co.uk Look for a pack of 4 These guys sell via ebay and where I got mine. http://www.gsparkplug.com/shop/spark-plugs/spark-plug-caps.html?color=134 Resistor covers info .... http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?resources/ngk-resistor-covers-identification-and-part-numbers.84/
This forum is great, we have an oil light on issue. Thought it was just the pressure sensor so I bought a pressure guage & found it was making good pressure & wondered what else it could be, now I know, thanks guys. I posted those translations somewhere on here. Let me know if you have any more to do, he's happy to help.
I have those translations downloaded ... thanx and thanx to your mate .... domo arigatou !.... I might have a good look at the manual and look for a couple of the more 'important' and 'usuable' pages for him to try.
i take it your going to do the ignition coils rewire yourself . is it easy im planning the same thing and is the maybe some oem or aftermarket coil blocks that could replace the stock fzr ones , do you know of any
I was going to do new leads but the other stuff has taken way too long ..... havnt looked into alternative coils but dont remember anything being mentioned in all the general reading Ive done.
Got me thinking .... have u actually removed a lead out of the coil? They look like they have some sort of clip arrangement ...... but on my GSX coils I tried to pull out a lead and went overboard and it snapped off inside.... obviously they were embedded in the coil. Heres a few words about coils/leads ...... http://fzr250.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3733
i hadn't no and now that i think about it it may not be feasible . that would be the good thing about finding a new coil to use , preferably not having to use any sealant or anything just a tight fit
Ill try to remember to have a look at one of my spare coils tommorrow The other end is simple ... the caps just screw off .... u would think it would be the same at the coil end to make life easy .....
Yes for sure ..... it was my approach with the GSX coil .... it will just screw out with a bit of force ..... Definately get the caps though .... a cheap replacement item .... and Ive seen corrosion inside my old spare set. A good tip if u use the old leads is to snip off a couple of MMs to give the caps some new wire to bite into.
Spent a good 30+ minutes reading this thread, you've come along way! Was looking at a FZR on gumtree that was real cheap but they seem like they need a lot of maintence mechanically which I have next to no experience in -facepalm- would love to own one though!
Yea a combination of a 20+ year old inline 4 , alot of dubious things done by previous owners , or lack of things done, can certainly produce a challenge. I still have to replace the headstock bearings (as they "knock" ) , check valve clearances and probably stem seals to kill the smokey and pull the gears as there is a knock in 3rd ....... and a re run on the cooling system as it has a couple of 'leaks'. But I think some road time is next on the list.
You need to do your homework if you want to replace the std coils. Accel or Dyna would have some good technical information. Here is the dyna tech docs link http://www.dynatekuk.com/downloads.html#coils Usually it is only if you are going up in compression or rpm that you need to upgrade. Having said that I don't know enough about the 250s to know if they would benefit from it. cheers
yeah i had stripped the wires back a few weeks ago impressive difference but only for a few hrs due to my carbs not being in sync and floats need adjusting . but ive ordered the plugs and enough wire to redo the coils , hopefully i can get it done . otherwise ill just use the wire for something else
