Wasn't a big difference on the Lixianda TCI on the ZXR, apart from no rev limit (confirmed by my valve springs at wakefield park) and apparently 'better uphilling'

Is hotwiring it an option? For the FZR drag bike you could throw most of the loom in the bin! I still use the standard TCI on my ZX2R, but I'd like to try an unlimited TCI or a programmable one.

Hey Adrian, did the TCI have any affect on the flat spot(s) in the rev range?

No, that flat spot is mostly the cam profile, carbs, and lack of an EXUP system

The drive cable to the front wheel? I've had them fall out on the fizzers and a zeal, it shouldn't make any difference.

One way to find out. Sounds similar to the ZXR and CBR 'cut out' issue.

    Hey Chief :)

Just been re-reading this thread and remembered something - when I tested the Unifilter in my 3LN6 airbox, it would rev out in neutral but start breaking up under load in any gear, I put the standard air filter back in and that fixed it. It was also way worse down low, very rich, and lean up top evidenced by the not revving out. So with any high-flow air filter, it will need jetting to run properly

I have also turfed the standard fuel outlet from the tank, fuel tap, and fuel pump for a simpler setup - Aftermarket DRZ400 vacuum fuel tap from MCS. You will need a threaded vacuum fitting and a vacuum line from the tap to any one of the inlet manifolds, just take out the screw used for the vacuum balance on any of the manifolds and fit the vacuum fitting there. Left the tap on reserve.

I did this because I has having issues with the carbs flooding the inlet ports and hydrolocking the engine frequently, requiring me to remove the plugs and evacuate the excess fuel, even after replacing the float needles.

The vacuum fuel tap will stop all fuel flow when the engine is not running, and is far more reliable. No trouble since.

The old fizzball has been in the retirement home for some time now and performing well as a junk shelf and a home to spiders.
At least it made it undercover but due to its past misdemeanors , it didnt make the cut to the new workshop

my memories of kwakas was to leave in "prime" and throw an NC solenoid valve in if there were issues with needles.

    ignition off, fuel off.

soon came to despise vacuum cocks. the old gpz750 would do it almost every stop... of course, being young and dumb i sold it rather than hang on to it and sort its issues out... sigh.

250 kept doing it and theres only so many times you can handle dealing with pulling ninja 250 carbs! new needles, tap kit... new tap assembly...

another aspect of vacuum taps im vaguely thinking over though never actually had an issue... technically no vacuum with WOT... or so little i find it hard to believe it can actually work a petcock... obviously they do or everyone would be whinging they die out after a long WOT pull...
and then that means the pressure on that needle holding it shut has to be so freaking low its almost useless? iunno... maybe a point to consider with an EFI setup, anyway... if its external pump.

    each to their own!
