Put a new reg/rec on Rosie, put the battery on to charge and changed Nix' rear brake pads. Think the new brake pads were overdue:
That's the plan. I'm still having problems with the blinkers so I need to get that sorted. I'm ditching the front LED indicators and got halogen ones. If that doesn't sort it then I will take it to an auto electrician.
Charged Rosie's battery and ran her a for a while. Attached jumper leads to the Fizzer from my car, tried to crank it a few times and realised I had no idea where the fuel tap was. Looked that up, put it in what I think was reserve and found out IT RUNS! Was then asked politely my neighbour across the road how long I was going to be revving it as she was trying to get 3 kids to sleep. I told her I was done and shut it off. Unfortunately I had my GoPro in the wrong mode and didn't get any footage - or if I did I wiped it accidentally. Oh well, I can do a "second first start" video next time I start it!
I replaced the front indicators and now all is fine and dandy and ready for a roadworthy hopefully tomorrow.
My screen was faded and yellow and I couldn't see through it so I grabbed the jif from the kitchen and started buffing and it came out a million times better. Wish I got a before photo
So I've heard. It's probably finer grade than jif so it would give it a better finish. I'll give it a go with tooth paste later. It's still a bit yellow so I'll use jif again first then finish with tooth paste. Unfortunately the Canberra rta isn't open on the weekend so I can't get a permit to take the bike to the mechanic but it's only a couple hundred metres down the road. Not that far to push the bike.
Admire your determination, pushing a bike is never fun. Great job on the screen, looks great and well done.
As per my previous photo's, the chain and sprockets have been attracting crap. Whatever grease the mechanic used has been doing it. So I lifted the bike up (soo much easier with spools compared to L-shape lifters), cleaned all the old crap off and put the bel-ray stuff I normally use back on. Now my chain and sprockets might be coloured like a smurf, but at least they won't attract road crap
Good thing I didn't push it to the mechanics. I drove past and they were closed. On the plus side, I gots me a new helmet and dri rider boots.
found out today that ZXR ignition barrel wiring has everything bar the kitchen sink wired into it for no reason lol
Get a day permit from Canberra Connect on a weekday. You can get one for the same day from when you pay until 7 pm or from 7 am to 7 pm for a later date if you need more time. Once you have an inspection report you can get a temporary permit for a week even if it fails so you can get repairs done and organise a reinspection if needed.
Went out to the shed about 10AM this morning ...looked at the thermometer inside and it was 45C ..... went straight back inside to the A/C .... day done
I'm pretty confident that it will pass. I was going to go in to get a permit yesterday morning but didn't realise they aren't open on weekends. At least the RTA is open on Saturday mornings.
Yeah it's annoying they're not open weekends. I tried getting a rego inspection on a Saturday once - most places that can do it are closed by midday and their authorised inspectors don't work weekends.
