I bought that one on ebay, I have to go past Newcastle to get it though, should be a fun bike to work on.
you should just give it a go yourself, the basics are the same for any bike and what you don't know you can read up on, or just wait 12 months till i know everything about them and give it to me
True, however I dont know enough about powervalves and I wanted a opinion as to whether to bike is worth putting some money into. It appears so far this bike is in pretty good shape, the fun part is working out if we put it back to orginal or try and make it more of race replica. Congrats on getting your NSR250, have you found a workshop manual yet ? The only one i know of is on nsr-world.com and you have to pay 10 pounds to get access to it. Here is a pic of an NSR250 with a cool paint scheme that I wouldnt mind trying on mine Chris
Hye Bob, I found a set of decals in Carina - www.cutgrafix.com, I will pick them up next week and we will arrange to get the NSR to you for a paint job. Cheers N Beers Chris
Bit of an update on the NSR, generally it has a clean bill of health except for a dodgy power valve servo, we are currently investigating to see if someone can have a look at it to save buying a new one. Plenty of too and froing ( by me) over paint choice , but Phil and I now agree the original red and whilte will look sweet, so the original fairings are going to get a fresh coat of paint by Bob - aka paint - my-bike. I have sourced the decals from www.cutgrafix.com so all going well the servo will be fixed next week and its off to the paint booth. I sourced a lil 1988 CBR250 this week minus a compliance plate, so its been pulled down for parts, there are some common parts between the CBR250 and the NSR250 so we are lucky we have a few spares on hand. Fork seals have been ordered, correct plugs are now fitted, Phil has been working on the carby's, they have had a clean inside and out, and are in awesome condition. Next week, we are getting the capliers stripped will most likely paint them here in black to keep it looking original. Cheers Chris
Hey all Have had some fun with the NSR and so far so good. Still having issues with the powervalves, am making some progress. Fitted new chain and sprockets today, sprockets were passable but the chain was wrecked. Draining 2 stroke oil tank tomorrow and getting some new oil. Forks are done, the oil was shockingly bad and smelt even worse. New plugs have been fitted and oil pump re calibrated. If anyone has any idea where I can source a manual, greatly appreciated. The bike gets back on the trailer tomorrow for a trip back to Brisbane. Will keep you posted as I progress. Phil
NSR250 Update While I was away, Phil has competed the following : *New front and rear sprockets *New fork seals *Replaced fork oil *Oil pump set *Replaced RC valve servo *Tune All up she has a clean bill of health exept for the RC valve which isnt opening fully, a new servo was fitted which has improved things, but still isnt 100 %, we need to shell out some coin for a manual. I have sourced the decals, which I hope to collect in the next few days then its time for a new paint job. Next Steps Pick up NSR250 decals Drop off at painter Powder coat wheels Fit new wheel bearings New Tyres
The wheels are at the powder coaters, the front calipers have been stripped and painted. I saw another NSR250 on eBay a few weeks back and sent the owner a message enquiring as to his bets price, suffice to say, we have a 2nd NSR in the garage ;D
bit more work has been done on her over the last few days, rear frame section has been stipped and painted, fork dust seals arrived and have been fitted. We have found the throttle cables are frayed, so will need to source some new ones. Really want the wheels back from the powder coater as I ordered a set of Michelin Pilot activ's today, might have to put a cover on for a week while I wait for the wheels to be done. Chris
Phil picked up the wheels from the powder coater toady and they are now down at Capalaba Motorcycle Centre having new bearings and tyres fitted. Bob aka paint-your-ride has collected the fairings and will start repairing them and get a white base coat down. New screen and brake pads have arrived, still waiting on new levers and mirrors to arrive and need to source some honda style grips. its starting to come togther !!! Chris
You guys are putting some work into this one It sounds like it will be another top job when you have finished it. But you just can't help yourself can you. I hope that garage is a big one!! Phil
Wheels are back with new rubber, Im very happy with the result. I have fitted new bearings and will put them back on the bike shortly. Cheers Chris
Hey All Funny how certain thoughts go through you mind at times. Whilst collecting the NSR wheels from the powder coater, I was tempted just for a moment to put the seat belt around each wheel, just in case!! Well happy to say they didn't move an inch and was well pleased when the mechanic put them away. My job was done. Hey Chris, they look good with some rubber on and now you free up the stands. Phil
wheels look great chris  here is a few pics of work so far panals welded marked in red i even added a few peices of fireblade to the side and lower fairings were bits missing more to follow when prep finished
Hey Bob Hard to recognize anything, having said that they look good fixed. You've been busy my friend. Awaiting the next stage with anticipation. Phil
