I was considering pulling my engine down to implement this fix but didn't find reasonably priced parts to refresh the rest of the engine till after I'd refitted it.

It looks to be an easy job to do

have seen car cranks fitted with plugs to facilitate machining.if not broken why do? more like crud caught in oilways and crank not cleaned properly.the plug should be staked and from the article it appears the plug comes loose.same effect would apply if journal out of round or excessive clearance.

engine problem is number 2 cylinder. much oil. other ports were dry.had to remove fairings, and exhaust to change oil filter hf145.cannot imagine too many being changed.

It was more of a preventative measure because of a known point of failure, but I decided that my engine is well maintained with good compression etc so left it be.

That's quick delivery, anything from China usually takes several weeks to arrive for me...

I'm interested to see a pic of cylinders with the head removed if you're up to documenting the process

Are you going to ball hone the cylinders?

when i strip the motor down i will decide. my engine hones will not fit in these cylinders which are roughly 40 mmm. might use some 1000 wet and dry and wrap around toilet roll and rotate and move up and down at same time.would like a small ball hone but doubt if expense to buy is justified. rings are very narrow and oil rings are 3 piece, top ring and oil rings chrome faced and black 2nd compression ring.bearings supplied are white metal and well made. valve stem seals are tiny but push on to valve guides. stem size looks roughly 2 mm.

if you used 320 - 400 to remove the mechanical polishing (it's not actually glazing - technically) followed by 1000 you may be able to replicate plateau honing which I've read good things about

I've got a crazy idea in my head - a big bore with the same stroke to get into the ~1.5:1 bore to stroke ratio or larger

Any chance of taking measurements once you have the cylinder head removed of the space between cylinders.
