OK so update time............. so i never showed you all the finished placement of the new Tyga bars........so here we are..... They make a nice difference to comfort, still unsure if i'm more comfortable having them like they are of dialed in?? I had an hours track time on the 23/2 but i spent most of it getting my bearings back, more track time will tell i guess. i also got myself.....because of how close we get in the races....a set of leaver guards, they are to go on when my new grips arrive so anyway, with the club round only a month away and after the hour on track the other day the bike is requiring a bit of tlc.......first thing is first....the fork seals are weeping so that needs to be fixed pronto!!! Forks in........... Forks out.......... now to drop them off to get the seals done and hopefully get them re-valved. next on my list is to pull the fairings off, drain the fluids, sort out a new chain and sprockets and check all the bearings, i hope i find nothing suspect....... stay tuned, Plodge Racing
So dropped off the forks tonight for their rebuild, all going well i'll have them back in the next week or so. My new grips arrived in the post this morning, so all i need is my R6 Throttle tube and i can put my new grips and leaver guard on anyone know if an zx10 rear sprocket will fit a ninja 250?? i know the R6 one's will
So just got a message that my forks are done and ready for collection, new seals, new piston seals, fork oil ect. turns out you cant re-valve these forks, you can only buy cartridges and at $1200.....i'll live with what i have...... anyway, so as i mentioned my new fairing arrived....so much more flex in these, so off with the old ones.... the inside is a bit different.........the old ones are pure figerglass and have a bit of flex but the new ones have a bit of a rubbery feel to them and heaps of flex.....hummmmm so time to size them up and get all the mounting points measured and drilled....a simple job that i still managed to screw up, not one, not twice but 3 bloody times! if i have learnt anything from this experience.......its fit and measure before you commence drinking beer....or get it done before you hit beer number 5 or 6 before that comes with the errrr fu#k it attitude....well it does for me so all sized up and drilled and now strip it all back again and time to the next stage...... stay tuned......more to come in the next few days Plodge Racing...
So the forks have arrived and are ready to be fitted....heavier fork oil and new fork seals and internal valve seals, seem a little stiffer we'll find out on Sunday! Oil been left to fully drain...not as black as it looks in the picture ..waiting on a few new seals for the side casings....hope they arrive on Wednesday so i can get stuck in to getting the bike back together.....
soooo got all my seals and bits and blobs for Kawasaki....and got stuck in first thing Friday morning....aim was to have all the stuff done and the bike back together and on the trailer by Friday night ready to be tied down and sorted Saturday night.... so i got a little distracted fixing and listening to music so pictures are not all that plentiful. anyway, clutch cover had gone further than weeping so time to be replaced... so cleaned up all the old seal, put the new one on and its good as new. changed all the seals on the filter housing and fitted a new filter...exciting...lockwired it all up and filled it with oil and hey presto...no leaks! whoo!! so next we moved on to the forks......well no pictures here....just put the forks back in...easy as pie now below we have one set of fairings.....the first set i bought all nicely repaired (very nicely repaired) and pained a nice and simple white....yep i'd love to do a nice fancy design but with my track record of crashing.....plain old white will do started fitting them up....ohhhh a nice white matching tank also....i've spoilt myself....it no longer looks like a patch work quilt haha! drain tray still there.....just in case my mechanic skills fail and it leaks lol.. so after a while i'm very surprised how neat my garage still is haha.....doesn't look all that bad so back at it and fitted up the main fairing...... havent fitted my new grips as my r6 throttle tube hasn't arrived....dammm ebay!! but never the less i put on my leaver protector....just cuz so now that that is all done i went inside to re-wrap my belly pan in carbon and wrap my front guard.....there is a reason there is no longer any more pictures....big flat surfaces....easy as...curves and the likes.....stressful and guaranteed to rip or burn or bubbles or all 3.....i'll have to re-think things down the line... anyway the finished product of it all looked like this on race day: And then race one....last corner....last lap.....going to try take two more spots in a win it or bin it maneuver.....well lets just say i didn't win it so a little bit of damage....exhaust was guntered to a useable example haha and new rear set was put on and then back up we went for race 2!! need to do a bit of fixing, tidying and tarting before round 1 in 3 weeks......hummmmm stay tuned!! Plodge Racing!
Crashing is part of learning and anytime u do it and can get back on for next race isn't that bad In scheme of things will continue to watch ur progress mate!! Mayb make a fb page and do some race reports sponsors will appreciate it and us so we can follow more!!
we go by what comes out in the MOM's and sup regs. We are actually allowed this year to run a full exhaust system, we can do internals of the forks but the appearance must stay the same, handle bars can be changed but must be mounted using the original mounting points ect and also this year we can run full wets but meh i aint got that sorta cash haha.
So nothing all that exciting but.......my spare set of carbs just arrived, so just waiting on my Litetek seal kit from @maelstrom and i'll get stuck into building this set of carbs with the stage 2 jetting kit i have in my stock pile
so just something small.....my litetek carb kit just arrived! thanx @maelstrom it looks great! Time to get the finger out and start building up the spare carb with the stage two kit
So a small update...... so after my exhaust remodeling i kind of needed a new one.....so a quick troll of fleebay and i came across a Roo racing slip on for my little Ninja.....at a far cry cheaper than the RRP of $645.00 as advertised on their website i said i'd be silly no to jump at it....only issue was he wouldnt post from Sydney to Perth!! so big shout out to Omar @XCite Bikes for his awesomeness at offering to pick it up and post it to me!! what a hero!! sooooo i went from a "custom" dan moto like so....... tooooooo and nice fancy, aussie made roo racing muffler like so....... few more changes to be made in the coming weeks.....few parts arrived, few new parts i have managed to score today are to be delivered and fitted to work along side a few other changes....so as always, this project will continue stay tuned!! Plodge racing!
Hey Moo I had a Roo Racing can on my SV650, great sound I was under the impression Roo Racing was a W.A. firm, could be mistaken. Anyhow projects looking good.
That they are Phil, built in welshpool, just down the road from me, aussie design and aussie made, this slip on is second hand and saved me a ton of cash
