That's it bearings don't like going over 110 degrees and if they do they will eventually burn off grease and collapse

I'm lost! You have a crack in your starter cover, is that correct?
    Devcon F is for aluminium.
or use JB Weld that Mr Grey suggested

Correct and oil is seeping through.

I just got back from Jaycar, got some JB Weld, 4 minute epoxy, and some liquid electrical tape.

Today I'll be using the JB Weld on the cover, and the 4 minute epoxy on the broken screen/nose fairing. I'm also going to put the fairings on and wash the whole bike

Today's tasks done.. won't be washing the bike due to the JB weld

JB Weld has done the trick, I applied more a couple of hours later and smoothed it out. Held fine on the way to work and the way back.

I also repaired that stupid plastic piece that sits behind the seat between the two tail fairings. What a stupid design. Luckily I had both broken tabs so I have epoxied them back on and used a ziptie (yes I found some, and it's how my new number plate is held on) on one side to hold it in place. I don't want to use two because then you have to remove the tail fairings together, and it's likely to break the tabs again.

The coolant also stopped pissing out of the tube on the way home, bike was completely dry on that side including the tyre. Temp gauge didn't rise above 1/3 - but the bike did get a little toasty. Is it normal for the lower parts of the frame to heat up to burning fingertips temp?

I didn't get around to calling Mr. CBR250RR today, but I'll ring him tomorrow

I've never felt the frame (fairings and all) but I can feel some heat on my legs when riding. I suppose it must be a little normal? My cooling system works fine and has new coolant etc.

If you run out of water you'll start taking the air temp. You sure it hasn't pissed itself dry?

It's the overflow bottle not the radiator itself

Hey I remember this bike. 1500 on the good old 'tree.

What is it with that tank. Everyone with that tank and our fairings seem to have the tank darker than the fairings.

But that wont happen with mine, Im getting mine colour matched, and no Virgin Sticker, just "Yamaha" and the Y Symbol.

And how does this one have the lugs to put on the FAI covers. Mine has the ones on the Front cowling, but not the main side fairings.....

On a side note, mine has the same noise, aaaannnnnnnnnnd, you make me feel good, cause mine aint nowhere near that bad. However my noise is only there on initial startup. After that, it goes away.

I also have a couple of spare covers that you need. More than one.

Thanks mate that sounds like a good idea. You're correct about the tank being darker. Mine's starting to rust and peel paint, I reckon I'll take it off, have it sand blasted and painted another colour and order fairings to match.

I have almost 2 sets of fairings, the set not on the bike are thicker plastic and a bit darker. I think they are original fairings repainted. They are damaged though and I'm missing one of the tail fairings

I don't follow re FAI covers?

Fuel economy report: Tank lasted 77KM before hitting reserve. Filled up 9.37 litres.

I'm unsure if the tank is 12L or 14L

I also spoke to that dealer about doing the cam chain. 8hrs labor at $90 an hour. That is a bit too much. So I will ring clubman motorcycles in 2 weeks to see what their schedule is like

That's crazy - just ring Clubman, and ask him to book it in for you in advance....

Yeah where ever I take , it will go without the fairings. The tank is just an allen bolt at the rear near the seat and another bolt/nut on the front
