77 KMS? Wow, uhh... that seems like terrible fuel efficiency for a 250. Or am I that misinformed? I recall running 160-180 KMS before having to refuel in my ZZR250 back in the day. I think that had a 14L tank. Don't really remember but doesn't sound right ...

That is 8.2Km to the Litre, 12Lt per 100Km, 23mpg. Mate that is bad. Sell it and buy a V8, it would do better.

Turn the pilot screws 2.5 turns out... must be running too rich... mine is a lot better now... but haven't ridden far enough yet to work out the new mileage

Here's another, compliments of Tim in his thread... note that the carbs are "upside down" in this pic... they are the screws at the "top" in this photo
    carbs1.jpg

You'll need a medium to small screwdriver about 4 to 5 inches long to get in there behind the carbs to adjust....

To make it pretty clear. Screw them all in until they JUST seat (don't tighten) then screw out 2.5 turns. Hint: Mark one side of the screwdriver with a permanent marker so you can clearly see the full 360 degree rotation. Remember to be accurate, 1/4 turn can make a difference

Will do. Guessing taking the tank off is the only way? The actual fuel tank or just the cover?

No, no need, screwdriver fits just behind the carbs from the side of the bike under the tank

Right, and a turn is 360deg, not 180deg? Just making sure

Right I attacked the pilot screws today and set them to 2.5 turns out. Whatever they were set to previously was far more than 2.5 turns out. I've also adjusted the idle, but 1300RPM is hard to get when the tacho starts at 3000... That's one small reason why I wanted a new instrument cluster.

I used a little jaycar screwdriver kit to adjust the screws. My god are they in a crap spot, because the carbs are angled downwards towards the rear of the bike. If they were angled up towards the tank, it'd be a piece of piss to do! Just take off the tank and adjust away.

I've yet to ride it and see how it feels, but I gave it a bit of a rev and nothing made loud noises, vibrations, or caught fire so I assume all is well.

Going to go fill up the bike, reset the tripmeter and see if I can do better than 9.37 litres for 77KM

Well... I just went for a quick ride to fuel up and to the shops. It feels like a very different bike now! It no longer gets boggy below 5k RPM, I used my "normal" throttle and was surprised when the bike took off like a rocket!!

F&$%^&ing previous owners or previous mechanics messing with **** they shouldn't touch!!!

Tomorrow I will attack the new instrument cluster

Heh heh, I surprise myself on mine too - for a 250 they're pretty darn punchy. Did you wet yourself with excitement?

Not quite but after that first twist of the throttle I got used to it.

Pulled the screen off and had a look at the dash, the wiring won't be be a plug and play affair. I'll need a wiring diagram and a decent amount of time & space to do it... Will need to take off the headlight and front fairing bracket to make the job easier. Anyone got a wiring diagram for the stock dash?

@Linkin maybe you could ask one of those owners who have the 3LN6 dash wrongly fitted to their bike if they want to swap you for the correct one.
