    Hi all,
It's great to find a 250 forum! I ride a VTR250, it's nothing flash but I love it. I've just got my licence again this year after a long time off the bike and I wonder why I waited so long..
Have only done basic servicing stuff so far, but I plan to do as much of it as I can by myself so bear with me if I ask some stupid questions... I'm learning this stuff as I go. :)

Thankyou :) Already have the workshop manual. Sometime in the not too distant future I'm going to tackle the valve clearance check... It can't be that hard, can it?

    Welcome Danielle, nice bike.
I had a ride on one about a month ago and was impressed with smoothness and handling.
Fire away with the questions and will do best to answer them. :D
Valve clearance checking and setting is not hard to do, you just need to be methodical and clean everything before you open the motor up so that dirt and grit does not get into the engine. A bit of maths usually helps too.

Cheers Frankster! not sure if brave or stupid... It's born out of necessity - if I had to wait for a spare 600 bucks to get it done, it would be waiting a while! It's supposed to be due on the 25,000 service and although my bike says nearly 30,000 it may have been clocked for all I know.

Yea dont be paying that kind of money ...between necessity , the manual and the help and expertise here , it can hopefully be acheived at home

Thanks Murdo and GreyImport :) I'll figure it out as much as I can from the manual first - wonder if I can get away without the Honda special valve tool?

Welcome to the forum, nice bike. Isn't life strange, Chris and I bought this model which had a blown head gasket but other wise was in good order, the seller was a young women heading overseas, even the same colour.
We found this model to be most reliable, plenty of power and handling was fine, lets face it "it's a Honda":thumb_ups:
Danielle, plenty of people on the forum to help should you run into problems. So ask away.

It's 2000 model Blair. But sometimes she wears 2001 parts, being born in December, can be confusing.
