Yep! She's a little beaut... could not resist. I sense checked information with the wife (husband not around) and it lined up so either they're very good at conspiring or were being honest (nice people so probably the latter).

    So on inspection:

    - I did a PPSR check beforehand (for those interested you can do this for $4 at PPSR.gov.au all you need is the VIN and a credit card rather than paying all those third parties $20+ for essentially the same info). She came up clear and the VIN and engine numbers matched this info on the bike itself.
    - Fairings and paint job in surprisingly good condition. Couple of chips/hairline cracks underneath but they're under 10mm long. Needs a FZR sticker on one side (anyone know where would be best to get this?) and a couple of 2fiftycc.com stickers but I have my stockpile ready!
    - Couple of scuff marks, a poor paint job on the mirror supports and a small dent in the tank but apart from that she should polish up quite nicely.
    - Fuel tank had some minor pitting rust but nothing major or flaking. Fuel looked clean.
    - Looks like it may have a very minor oil leak around the site glass that I'll keep an eye on. No other apparent leaks anywhere else, but I'll take the fairings off for a closer look. For the most part it looked pretty clean from what I could see but dusty so nobody was trying to hide a leak with a cleanup or anything.
    - the pun about marshmellow shocks at the front certainly held firm, but no fluid leakage and on the test ride seemed ok.
    - She idled consistently, no blowing any smoke, excess water or fuel in the exhaust etc. Got a nice little tune too!
    - Tyres are good, about 85% tread I reckon, they seem pretty new.
    - Two new front disk rotors.
    - Front brake felt a bit spongy so I think it will need a bleed and a good service.
    - Rear brake was fine. Clutch seemed fine and changed through all the gears smoothly enough.
    - I reckon she needs a new rear sprocket (probably the front sprocket too) and a new chain. The chain may clean up but I'd be inclined to do that with the sprockets so it's all new.
    - Needs a throttle cable, at first I was a bit concerned (given comments above) the carbies may have been playing up but I fiddled with the throttle a bit to test how springy it was and it left a lot to be desired. So although she responds alright to the twist ll I think a new cable will do her wonders.

Was a bit of a struggle on the initial stages of the test ride though, she had been sitting so long and had so little fuel in the tank that she stopped on me a couple of times. I suspected it was a little gunk in the carbies combined with the fact these people lived on Mt Everest in all directions (I think fuel starvation on the climbing angle didn't help) so I topped her up (they had spare fuel in a canister) and tried again. The longer I ran her and opened her up the happier she was and seemed to work out all the kinks, Smooth through the ride and through the gears, I ensured I took her for a good 20 minute ride around circling around a couple of blocks and she went very well. At 18K I had the biggest grin on my face that you would have seen in a long time.

So with a good service and the items above I reckon she'll sing happily and shouldn't be too much trouble for rego at all.

Photos to come, bit too dark now. Very happy :D

Yeh the bandit well.. uhh... who knows. Scratching my head on that one, but no rush so can sit for a bit longer.

Nice to have a running bike again though.

Nup, Ive had mine "on the road" for almost a year, and has spent equal amount of time off it vs on it.

That's it mate ...... that's wat its all about ........ the testicle tingle :D

Sounds like you have done well :thumb_ups:

Get some decent new fuel in there and replace fluids .... bleed thru some new brake fluid .... etc etc

With the throttle ..... pull the whole thing apart ....... check the twist grip is lubed up , hang the cable and get some oil into it and make sure the linkages at the carby end are working freely

Yes I topped her up with premium fuel to give her a good flush through. Preliminary photos below. Interested in others thoughts but the teeth on the rear sprocket look pretty worn to me (may be normal for sprockets on this bike though?) but the chain definitely needs attention.

Hey Stu, I don't think the rear sprocket looks too bad, I'd clean it up first and see how she looks.

    good.jpg

Congrats on the bike, looks like a good deal, its a 3LN5 ?

I did point that out in the other thread as a clean bike for the money. Looks like I was right.

Obligatory oil & filter change, and coolant flush.

Possibly flush fresh brake fluid though it too.

    Pretty sure it's a 3LN3.
