Wow I missed a bit on this thread. Didn't come up in my alerts.

That was a good effort to strip it down and rebuild it. I think the monochromatic paintscheme (read unpainted) actually looks good. I must have a thing for white bikes.

Did you get to pick your number or was it assigned?

ye it came together by the skin of my teeth but it came apart just as quick :p
na i just got assigned the numbers. im thinking i might stick with the white, makes it easier to paint the next time i crash and knowing me wont be that far away lol.

ok so just a little update, new bars arrived, haven't fitted them yet but i'll get to it in the coming days.

made a start last night on repairing my fairings jeeezzzz i really dislike repairing fiberglass. if only my fairings could be rubber and just not brake.

anyway as you can see in the earlier pictures i was missing a part of the r/h side of the fairing, well that now stuck back together.....just need to let it dry ad finish with some bog and then get my sanding on......still yet to buy an air compressor and a sander.....think it might be a worthwhile investment....

oh and @GreyImport any chance of a few more stickers??? :) the ones on the sides will be coming off for paint.........

    IMG_2365.JPG IMG_2366.JPG IMG_2371.JPG
My poor little ninja all naked yet again :p still have a little bit of fixing on the tail fairing but i may or may not get to it..........we'll see i guess.
    IMG_2370.JPG

here's my back brake lever......well whats left of it. i ordered new rear sets, i'm hopeful they will arrive but in case they don't, i think i'm going to have to try find a way of fixing this.........and retreading the foot peg.....
    IMG_2367.JPG

happy i found the broken bits on turn one lol.
    IMG_2369.JPG

released last night that my exhaust is now fouling on the swing arm........time to do some bending of the exhaust bracket.......was also thinking of chopping down the exhaust to get rid of the damage down the bottom.........hummmmm

so its been a while since you guys have seen an update on this......so this is how the bike now sits.....minus my mates little lad haha FullSizeRender.jpg

So since my last race in November I have been slowly deciding on what I’d like/allowed to change and what spares I want to have going into next season. The rules have changed so there may be a few extra things we can run but still waiting to find out……..

Ideally I’d like to try find another bike to have for spares but if I can’t find one for what I’m willing to pay I’ll just have to start buying a few bits that show up at the right price.

On the list of aftermarket parts and spares wanted and some needed for this season:

    R&G engine guards
    Tyga clip on’s
    Spare bars
    Spare leavers x 2
    Spare washer bottle
    New adjustable rear sets (maybe…..)
    R6 Throttle sleeve (TBC)
    Headers (TBC)
    47 tooth rear
    45 tooth rear x 2
    43 Tooth rear x 1
    Stock front sprocket x 2
    -1 front sprocket x 1
    520 chain x 2
    Spare sprocket carrier
    Spare carbs (if possible)
    Spare fairings (if possible)
    front pads
    front discs
    filters & oil
    crash knobs (unsure…..)
    Tyres
    Spare wheels (if possible)
    Tyres – Wets (if possible)

I also aim to tart the bike up a bit, hoping to get the tank and fairings painted white and this time have it done better than what I can achieve from a rattle can haha. I’m undecided about the wheels, if I leave them black or not and if I leave the belly pan wrapped in carbon…….decisions decisions. What I do know is that I need more track time and I need to start getting myself together because April will be on us before I know it. I’ve started buying a few bits here and there so I’ll give you all more of an update as it all happens. This thread will now be the never-ending project thread….well until I can’t do no more that is haha.

    Stay tuned!

    Plodge Racing!

OK so to get it to where it was on the track it cost me around $3K including the cost of the bike. Below is what I had spent on it coming up to the first round I raced (more parts bought since), not all of the below mentioned parts are required…..I have not included the cost of rattle cans, skinned knuckles, hours of labour, shouting, screaming, cartons of piss consumed, drill bits broken drilling for lock wiring ect :p

    New straight frame - $250.00
    Radiator $70.00
    Overflow bottle $20.00
    Fairings - $500.00
    F&R braided lines $150.00
    Tyres $400.00
    K&N filter $100.00
Dyno Jet Kit $100.00 (not yet fitted)
    Rear Sets $150.00
    Pads F&R $60.00
    Dan Moto slip on $150.00
    Yoshi exhaust hanger $70.00
    Fiberglass engine casings $70.00
    Oil & filter $90.00
    Plugs $40.00

By the time I am finished with it this year it will owe me around $5K+.

But if you considered getting into it, it’s doable on a smaller budget, all depends on how much you outlay on the original bike but with the 300 series going strong over east the cost of the 250’s will drop on both the private market and the salvage market so you could get a steel for a few hundred and go racing for less than $2K if you really wanted to. The tyres, fairings and the bike are the 3 biggest costs. Depending on the condition of the bike you get you will make money back on the fairings and road gear. Braded lines, rear sets, exhaust ect are not required, just lock wire, drop the coolant, remove the road gear inc stand, fit an overflow for the overflow and fuel and fit a shark fin and your good to go! Sure you can race on road tyres if you wanted :)

i'd say you could build and race any 250 new or old for under $2K, all just depends on the cost of the bike at first. its cheaper than most think :) you getting the itch??

naaa it will never sound as good as the inline 4's but they are not far off as quick, the Ninja has great torque and midrange but nothing up top, but thats to be expected as its not a high reving block. i'd say my fizzer is more fun to ride due to the body position but the ninja is more agile and turns in so much quicker.

mate i run EBC HH sintered pads got them at a discount rate of $30 a set on ebay normally they are $40 a set (ninja are only singe caliper up front)

I am, I am getting the itch. But I have a lot of ambitions this year that require $$, and It may be a case of which one I want more. And there is one that I have been missing for years, and want to get back into (A hobby from which my username comes from). I swore I would do it last year, so I think I should get back in it this year. Track bike may come after that. Also need and want to spend $ on the car.

The other thing is, that as much as I would love to track a fizzer, its not the best financially viable option. As you know once you blow a motor, or box, or damage a fairing, its big $, and hard to find.

However, the ninja im guessing is a little cheaper (LOL), with parts easily available.

So with the 2015 season fast approaching its time to get underway with a few changes to the bike.....
    IMG_2782.JPG IMG_2783.JPG

so this is how the bike sits as of the end of last season........not going to be a huge amount of changes, but i'll keep posting pictures as the weeks progress and you will all get to see the changes as they happen. most of the big visual changes will come closer to the first race meet, as i still need to get some testing in so those changes are going to stay last on the list.

so first thing to change was the bars..........
    IMG_2784.JPG

    can you spot the difference??

i have another set of aftermarket clip on's that i bought a while back but they don't drop the height of the bars. the sup regs state that we have to use the original mounting points so that meant that vortex or fork leg clip on's are out the window. I wanted to find something that would bring the bars forward and lower them even just a bit to make me more comfortable on the bike while keeping in line with the regs and i think Tyga have managed to answer my request.....
    IMG_2785.JPG

a little bit lower and a little bit further forward........every little helps with making me more comfortable on the bike and even though its only a small change it will encourage me to get my body position lower on the little ninja......

few more bits to arrive (like new grips) before you get the finished product picture.........
