So what do you do when you have too many bikes already?

    You buy another
    You buy another Triumph
    You buy another whistling triple
You buy a Tiger XC !

Welcome to the Tiger Club :)
I generally have that smile every time I go for a ride as well... Did you ride her back from the previous owner? Looking at where they were it would have been a nice ride... :)

Walcha road would be a nice ride as well... how do you like the more upright riding position? A bit less strain on the wrists as well probably.

I never really had a problem riding sports bikes but for long distance Id say sitting upright would win out .... theres a bit of wind buffering but I remember the video reviews mentioned the stock Tiger screen isnt great for that.
To me though nothing compares to a blast on the Daytona

Disassemble , clean, fix .... rinse and repeat

Took an hour before I realised I had a gold chain :D

An oiled prefilter sitting in amongst the wiring .... now thats a great idea .... and such a weird design :commando:

And its a wonder the DB killer wasnt spat out the back :idk:

This Tiger was serviced at the local Triumph dealer 4 years ago (including valve clearances thankfully) and only ridden 3000ks since

This bastard is heavy .... even with the usual centre stand techniques , its a struggle

That's terrible. At least she has found a good home now. Any plans for your first long-distance trip?

Actually I was looking at that today ..... I dont want to travel any mad tracks but just some comfy touring and dirt back roads ..... u need too much junk to camp out and a decent bed/meal/beer at night sounds much more feasible
I was thinking of exploring the Pilliga scrub and just staying at any of the towns around it .... like Baradine , as a base
Tattersalls Hotel is supposedly "bike friendly"

Also I want to visit the cemetary at Come-by-Chance as my descendents (on my mothers side) used to own the town and a couple of large properties back in the day .... I used to stay at the homesteads when I was a little fella.

Have stopped in Baradine a couple of times, pretty standard old pub. Cafe across the street has good food too.
Take your mozzie repelant if going into the scrub.

    Sounds good to me

    Naked Tiger

No wonder these things are so top heavy .... tank is about half full but it weighs a TON

Talk about an oil spill .... its caked on everywhere .... even the butterflys are "stained"

That's a reason why I no longer use oiled type air filters on my personal bikes. They don't filter as well as a paper element.

Yea never liked them ... and they are usually "over oiled"
I get it using them on an off road bike for the dust , but when I fit the new elephants penis prefilter , Im going to remove most of the oil if its pre oiled .... this was suggested on the Tiger facebook group
Ill replace the main filter with a BMC .... as I did with the Daytona

Just more cleaning for the Current Owner

A word of advice on BMC air filters... every single one, without exception, that I have pulled during a service has had the rubber sections disintegrate before touching them with any cleaning solution. I'd actively avoid them. Seen a lot of bikes very close to ingesting the crumbling rubber bits.

Now whether that is caused by using the wrong / generic oil or cleaning solution I don't know, but given the state I always find them in, I can't recommend them.

I would fit a standard OEM filter and use the oiled pre-filter in the snorkel. After cleaning out all the grot from the airbox and throttle bodies.

Locations for secondary air reed valves. If they are blank, and your bike doesn't have secondary air hoses or solenoid then none are fitted, the cylinder head won't have any secondary air ports into the exhaust either.

Another emissions control system, on deceleration it puts oxygen into the exhaust to burn off any unburnt fuel.

Causes excessive popping on decel with an aftermarket exhaust fitted, which is why many people either fit block off plates, or stuff a big ball bearing or plug into the hoses to stop the popping. Some bikes will throw check engine light/codes if you unplug the solenoid.

Had no dramas with the DNA filters I've seen. Supplier is Kenma here in Oz.

I know K&N will supply a little tube of grease with their filters, you are supposed to grease either the recess in the airbox or the edge of the filter.

Some will tell you to re-use the OEM gasket, some will tell you to remove it and use grease instead. Depends on the bike.

Obviously if dirt and stuff is getting past that into the throttlebodies, either the filter isn't sealing or the airbox itself isn't sealed.

I see that a fair bit with old bikes - stripped out plastic where the airbox screws go, or just a filter not serviced in ages.

Some specific bikes (cough KTM cough) have had issues with getting their airboxes to seal at all in standard trim.
