Other way round AFAIK. The Australian delivered one didn't have to comply with all of Japan's exhaust emission restrictions, although it's probably only something as simple as the carby slides. Other than that, the Jap one was actually to a higher spec (better brakes, suspension etc). Power wise, there's not meant to be much between them.

Garfield - Whatcha doing with the Sprint when you've finished it? I was looking for a bit of an incomplete project bike to finish off and upgrade to.

A YZF or that? Ummm... I really don't think there is a choice. Just in parts availibility.

If I were to buy a new bike in the next year I would choose an fz1... I like them! Not common, great performance, and relatively comfortable. Must say though - not 100% sure about the 2006 model exhaust though I think I like it... (see http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/produ ... /home.aspx or http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94401 (better pics at the second link). Probabyl the same price as the daytona too...

Garfield - your ogling the same bike i am... although i'm being realistic and assuming that i can't afford the 675 for the time being. Perhaps in another 1 or 2 upgrades (or when the insurance gets past that damn under-25-male limitation ;) ).

The new FZ1 exhaust is horrible! I'd be wanting to trade in that fugly pipe for the 2005 model one.

    that sums it up....

don't do it dude, if sumthing does happen, like a cager hits you, you will be in the wrong by default.... And that would suck, just stick it out.
