The 750 however...is that extra bit more power, plus it weighs 6kgs less than the 95 cbr600. Should be able to pick one up in that price range too...

Well not that we can really talk you out of a Gixxer, and i wouldnt want to! I've ridden a few times with XG (Matt) on his late model (bumble-bee style) Gixxer and it goes like the clappers.

Keep in mind the power output of things like the CBR600 F4i's increased sizeable after 1999 or so, i know the 2001 model which i've ridden has a moderate amount of zip to it (i call it zip, not oomph... oomph is litre bike material).

Most of the 600's got a bit of a kick in the early 00's... so i wouldn't rule them out quite yet. $6500 is a decent budget for an upgrade. You could pick up something like a TT600 if that's to your liking (it's to mine ), or maybe even a late model '97'ish Fireblade. The 'blade would certainly provide the extra power you sound like your seeking.

Yeah, as I said I wouldn't mind a newer 600 (post 00') with fuel injection and lighter weight..but you still pay through the roof for most of them that ive seen. R6's nearly go for as much as the R1!

By fireblade do u mean the 900cc? If so, according to www.motorbikes.be/en , theres only 2 hp difference between that and the same year (97) gsxr-750. Although the 900 has a bit more torque.

The TT600 isn't bad. I dont mind the look, however there isn't many around.

Btw, ive never had any problems with carbies before. My dads a mechanic by trade so he tunes my bikes pretty good. Pitty he cant seem to fix this bloody RGV so far!!!

ok...so back on topic now...

if u buy a big bike now, then u will b paying more for it coz summer is coming up, and the likelighood of being pulled over is higher since u will b riding more and police will target bikers goin up the hills...which i assume u will rite?....lol

i thought u fixed the cdi prob dean? anyway, the gsxr is not a bad bike at all...but ill most likely b getting a yzf750 in the next few months...after i fix the fizzer,..and the trump...
hav u considered any other bikes? like vfr750 mayb? or what about naked bikes? u mite b more unnoticeable with a naked one as it doesnt look as "fast" mayb?

come round sometime dean, i got moto gp4 now!

Heya Dave, yeah You are right...chances of getting caught while on rides is pretty high. I guess I need to get the bike fixed before I sell it anyway..so might as well keep riding it.

Yeah the CDI problem fixed it dave..but then it stopped running again?? Same sorta problem..but its definetly not the CDI...coz its sparking this time...so thinking maybe it is fuel as well???

If its got air and spark....?

I assume this was the demo version

Garfield - great choice of bike (yzf750r). I do not regret having mine in the least. I recently rode a 1999 (maybe 1998?) gsxr750 and I preferred mine - I just felt more comfortable on it overall. Perhaps that is because i was used to it though...

Grendal - have you considered teh yzf750r? They are heavier (almost 20 kg heavier) but they are truly great bikes. Try riding a gsxr and a yzf and let me know what you think.

If someone wants a classic - a guy at netrider indicated he has a friend selling a pristine (6000 km's) 0W01 for $9000AUD... (I am sure fzrdude will appreciate that).

There are some around with fewer k's- they just are not that common so difficult to find (given they are a 10 year old bike now, at an average of 5000 k's / year is not that high, you add up to 50 000...). I bought mine for 5500, with 33 000 k's on it - a '96 model and fully stock (except k&n air filter) - I've already put on 22 000 k's on it . Apparently there are some slightly different parts in the pre 96 models to the 96 and 97 models. I know the 96 and 97 have curved radiators, ohlins spec shocks, and I believe they have different carbies (fzrdude will probably know more about the differences).

FYI: I assume you have seen the two yzf750's at spot-on? They were around 8 months ago when I bought my bike. They may be willing to deal with them given how long they have been there.

And the 750 at a1 motorcycles in ringwood - it is in great physical condition (was out there on the weekend) - don't know how it runs though. It has 47 000 ks on the clock according to bikesales.com.au.

yeah i looked at the ones at spot on...not very nice looking though with quite a few kms...
i like the one out at ringwood but the kms worry me. there is also one out at mick hone as well...which is similar to the one at a1.
i havent seen any 96-97 ones for sale...
but if i can find one i owuldnt mind payin that lil extra for it...

anyway...ill c what comes up..

nice bikes those 750s, but do they all come in those interesting colour schemes? You know the white with orange/blue/pink/purple/red/yellow/etc stripes
Bit of a shocker in my opinion...

not all - pre 1995 (and some 1995's) seemed to have unique schemes. Mine is green/grey (see http://www.motorbikes.be/motorbike/1544/index.jpg ) and, IMHO, it looks quite decent.

Love to organise a ride dave...but if u read my posts before...the bike is cutting out!!!.

No problems with the spark however..so maybe it was fuel all along?

I think I have become biased now - even the white seems decent to me. But that is probably because I like the yzf750's now... But I used to hate the old colour schemes.

The trx850 is a great bike. fun to ride etc. Not quite as much 'punch' as the yzf750, but certainly better from down low. And sounds much better. It's also a fair deal lighter, skinnier, and more nimble. I was told that the jap delivery (as opposed to australian delivery) trx's have slightly more power. Not sure where this difference lies though.

As I said that black one has been there for at least 8 months so they should be willing to deal on it. Good nick though (from memory) and low k's. See if you can get the exhaust from the other yzf750 as well - I like the dual pipe look (for those that don't know what I mean - have a look at http://tcimages.net/DisplayImage.aspx?PD=5241873&S=ISS - hopefully that link will continue to work.)
