Are you sure that the 'dipstick' has not fallen off the filler cap?

no dipstick on them.never has been.interestingly that some oil filler screw in caps were painted alloy and some were chromed steel.i think the air cooled motors were 16hp and liquid cooled around 24 to 27hp.my latest motor is flying even though the ports are smaller part way down throat and is meant for greater velocity.

Just a update I have now checked the oil (yahoo) by taking the fairing off the bottom right side.
    oil is fine
just a side note it says to check your oil daily that ain't gonna happen its in a bit of a silly place but at least I know where it is now
cheers to all who assisted me with this dilemma.
This is a great site to be on guys might even go for a ride :)

You might have to cut a small hole in the fairing to be able to check it.

I wouldnt be worried about checking the oil every time u ride ..... maybe every couple of weeks would seem more reasonable.

Have u done anything with the rear suspension yet? :)
I would check that the air is correct then if u dont have anyone to help set the preload correctly then set it to the mid setting (is it numbered? ) ... go for a short ride ...... then put it on full hard and ride the same route as before.....then full soft and repeat.

if one sprocket is up 1 tooth and one down 1 tooth chain should still fit. sinh would know off the top of his head.
