Has anyone had any luck finding a K&N air filter for a 2KR??? The part number listed, KN 145, is an oil filter. The question about whether it needs oil or not is pretty moot. As noted earlier, K&N air filters do need oil to function. They are "pre-charged" from K&N. thanks in advance, scotty
Measure the diameter of the carb and send them an e-mail with the info. I'm sure that there is something out there that will work. Just have to hunt it down.
My personal recommendation would be to stick with the stock airbox and, if you have it, the EXUP headpipe. Yes, there are pro's and con's to going with the pod filters, but the main Con is because you are allowing more air which means you need more fuel. More fuel means jetting and proper jetting/tuning would mean some dyno time. That equates to $$$. Unles you are going for much bigger HP, which there is only so much you can squeeze out of a 250, I'd stick to stock. On my 1000 I could go from about 120hp to maybe 125-130HP with a full exhaust, stage III jet kit, pod filters, new emulsion tubes, and dyno time. Of course that'd set me back about $800 USD not including dyno time. Is it worth 5-10 HP? Not for me, but then again I already have 120 or so HP. Sure you can invest about $2000 in the motor (big bore and head work)and maybe run with the 400's and suprise a couple of newbies on 600's, but like I said, is it worth it? Especially given the "grey market" that the FZR250 is.
I'm just trying to get a clean air filter. I know "you can't polish a turd". It's my wife's bike. I just want to make it 100%. Angela is far from an HP monger. It looks like I am left with using an air compressor to clean the filter from inside out. Scotty
