I dont think theres a listing for K&N filters for the fzr but im sure some of them fit...by any chance does anyone have one fitted? Or even a unifilter model number? I think there was once floating around the forum somewhere but I cant seem to find it.

I was going to create a post in the next few day reguarding filters,
I have heard that you can put a foam one in.
My question is, does the foam one that some guys have put in, include the entire plate that the filter sits in or just the peice of foam and you put it into the plate?
I have looked at my filter and it seems to be glued to a frame that is attached to the plate.
So i have a feeling that I am going to have to replace the whole thing, Plate and Filter.

can you guys shed any light on the subject?

When you say NU2296 I'm guessing that is for a 3ln? Would such a filter work on a 2kr?

No thats for a 88/90 so im guessing its 2kr. could be both? I went to autobarn today...doesn't seem like the code is a valid one in their books..which is strange coz its on the site..I might just get measurements from it and get a K&n...Cant be bothered putting the whole oil **** in with a uni filter

you have to oil k&n filters too dude, ive got them in my cars!!

i went to get a unifilter for my bike, i got a replacement one for $59 the only problem was it was for a 2kr not a 3ln3. I rang the bike joint today and they say they can only track down one filter for a 3ln3 and that is $120! its only a paper filter too!

I think the one that cost $120 will include the whole plate that the filter sits in, thats why they are expensive. I wonder how hard it would be to make one?

grendal i am 100% sure you oil k&ns....i am a mechanic!!!
you do wash them in special solution then oil them. that is how these filters work, the oil traps the dirt particals that is why you never blow them out with compressed air. the reason they have so much flow is the filter mesh unlike paper filters is very spaced out which is why oiling them is crucial.

shall i shoot you now or later!!!!!

has anyone actually found a K&N Filter for the 3LN (card type filter) yet?
    shandu, that part number comes up as a round oil filter <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->

i rang around the other day, a new stock filter was going to cost me $65.
the guy a MCA paramatta said he could get me a single use Unifilter for $70. What is the point in that i say.

Red Baron at Liverpool said about $45 for a stock one. I asked him about re-useables, he says, "Yeah i can get them". I say, how much, he says about $100. Thing was, he was still on the phone telling me this, not actually looking in the books to see if he could get one.

sorry Grendal but he's right. I have a K&N Pod filter on my car, it needs to be cleaned and oiled with special K&N cleaner and oiler every couple of thousands K's.

Still not as high maintenance as a unifilter though.

nope, you have to clean it with the cleaner, hose it out, and then oil it with the oil.
