ahh yes this is true. i miss counted a letter. as kiffsta says there might be a different vin on the neck stem. if not 1998 it is.
To be fair its probably better he just believed it was 1991 though because now the whole "derestriction" nightmare could come up hahahaha.
Thanks for that guys, I always thought they finished making these in 1996 so would it be safe to assume its a 96 model imported in 98? edit, from the compliance plate it seems like Honda imported this one.
yeah, that's the import VIN, get on the right hand side of your bike and look at the head stem, you may need to turn your wheel to the left to access it, you will see the head stem frame number listed, it will have a line through it with a new aussie VIN stamped near by. Once you have your frame number, compare it to the list below to correctly identify your bike
No, http://s283.photobucket.com/user/Big_Al83/media/394.jpg.html check red circle. EDIT: nvm, do what kiff said lol
Welcome along mate and happy posting!! all the best with the CBR ohhh beat is a very strong word, maybe in a straight line they will pull on the little two cylinder Ninja! But I've had a FZR that ran perfect and i'd say its near on par around a track when vs a well ridden new Ninja. the little ninja is a torque monster out of the corners i do miss the solid structure and the positioning of the FZR though, far nicer bike to ride.
Not that this is the place, but I would like to chime in on that comment. After going to old pacific hwy my opinion on the ninja 250 ex(whateverator) has completely changed. I thought I was so clever ripping on the newer underpowered twins, but that quickly changed after seeing what they can do in the corners. I completely respect the bike.
Well unfortunatly the frame number is completly unreadable... imgur.com/3bpLGKb How about engine numbers?
bloody butchers, the only other way I know of is to open your rear seat, look between the right hand rear fairing at the subframe, there shold be a white sticker on there which has the model and colour scheme it left the factory with
First time I've seen one like this. Normally there is simply a line drawn through the numerals and the new ones adjacent. Butchered alright, what a mess.
Hmm... frame number ground off sounds dodgy. Perhaps the bike was written off? The only way I can think of getting the frame number would be a PPSR check with the VIN, and to run the old plates on the TMR or go into a branch and explain the situation, ask for the frame number... One would think that they keep those records. https://www.service.transport.qld.gov.au/checkrego/application/VehicleSearch.xhtml?windowId=938 https://transact.ppsr.gov.au/ppsr/QuickVINSearch
From what I've read if the compliance plate has "Honda MPE" on it then it is an Australian delivered model? I would think it wouldn't be too dodgy if its been imported by Honda?
