Hello all. I'd just like to introduce myself. My name is Sue. I'm now the proud owner of a 1984 Yamaha SRX 250. I've had my bike licence for many years but due to family a bike was out of the question. Until now. With the kids all grown up I can now hop on my bike & ride. (When I get it registered of course)
Welcome Sue...wow... another SRX, that now makes 3 of us in here... If you need any assistance or advice just give me a yell Mine is currently in bits... lots of bits being rebuilt.. well that is the overall plan anyway Nice looking bike, hopefully it wont take much to get it registered...
I have to wait a few months as both the cars are registered in March & it would be too expensive for us to have the bike in the same month .It's starts great & runs well & all the lights work so it shouldn't be too long before I can hit the road. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hi Hun. I didn't realise there weren't many of these great little bikes still around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hi Sue You should look into joining a club because your bike can be run under Club Registration... it will still need a blue slip but you will be able to ride for a good number of days on Club Rego without the cost of normal rego... just a thought
Morning Sue and Andy . Yes Sue there are a few of the SRX's around in peoples sheds. Have always liked these models for some reason as i still have the original brochure that was given to me via Yamaha agent back in the days , has a picture (35mm) of a SRX glued to the front page and has the specs for the SRX V's the other brands and specs that was on the market at that time , pretty cool to have actually for history sake. But it's only has taken me over thirty years to buy one and to be honest i think iv'e bought the worst one out there.I'f all goes well with the rebuild of the SRX , i'll be going on the Club Registration.
Welcome Sue. The club (or historic for bikes over 30 years old) rego scheme in NSW is a great way to keep older bikes on the road without costing too much. You need to be a member of an approved (by the RMS) club and have your bike inspected by the club inspector and have the form signed, then take your receipt (to prove ownership), membership card and club form to RMS and pay the fee (around $50 per year, this includes 'green slip') plus the cost of the number plate (around $70, but once only cost) and ask for the logbook sheet. You are then legal to ride your bike anytime for a 'maintaince run' of up to 10Km from your home, any club approved run (even going to attend a meeting) and 60 days per year using the logbook. You must carry the purple 'certificate of approval' and the filled in logbook with you when riding. Insurance is up to you. Sounds a lot but is easy after the first year and only $50 per year is cheap.
depending on bike club rego in first year will be between90-95 $. the plate is 45$ which is included in that cost. cost to join the vjmc is 45 first year and 40 a year after. bike must be 30 years old in nsw or 25 old in vic.green slip is also covered in the cost. club events are covered plus 60 days on the logbook. vjmc just had nationals in tamworth and it was a ball [apart from nuisance rain].
