No matter how many times you see a Lamborghini Drag Car, you just never really get used to the them.

Following on from street-driven HQ Holden's running 6.65 1/4 mile times, an Aussie R33 has just run a 6.49 at 221mph making it the fastest Nissan R33 in the World!!

    https://dragnews.com.au/video-worlds-quicket-and-fastest-r33/

Those Nissan engines are unbelievable. Probably the strongest 6 ever built with the Barra a close second.

Heathcote Park Raceway recently held its 'Buzznats'; a wet dream for anyone with a liking for all things rotary. Some interesting vehicles made their way down the quarter mile.

WOW oh WOW. 6 sec street cars, just f**king unbelievable. I saw the FJ Holden with the rotary in the buzznats photos.

Yep, it's unbelievable. I bet that you (as well as risky and a few others on here) can recall, back in the day, watching a Top Fuel Dragster running a high 6 @ 200mph and thinking "wow". Not only are they running those numbers in street registered cars, but they're doing it on narrow tyres (which probably helps them go faster) so grip is limited. Unreal. Yep, that ute was cute.

    That's one quick HQ.
I can not imagine that there is a hell of a lot of original HQ left under that silhouette.
I certainly can not recall the factory delivering them with an 8.3L+ big block V8.
    Dubious road legal status also.

But a nice ($$$) bit of engineering to make it all work and look tidy.

I've never seen the HQ in the flesh, so can't be sure about how much of the original car is left under the skin. It weighs over 3,100lbs (1,400kg), so not exactly a featherweight. At least he uses a Brodix engine which started off as an aftermarket chevy blocks/parts provider. Normally, I would say that those 94mm turbos would be a hazard for any birds flying nearby, but the builder has done an excellent job hiding the intakes and keeping the HQ looking stock other than the bonnet and huge exhausts poking out in front of the front wheels

You have to take your hat off to the team at HPR (Heathcote Park Raceway); they just keep pumping out events that people want to watch and participate in. Good work.

Gee, I used to have a HQ ute. It was nothing like that one though.

Yep and Calder Park is slowly drifting away as a distant memory.

Dubbo drags tomorrow. Shame the chief doesn't have the FZR400 ready to race.

Those buttholes at CPR just annoy the bejesus out of me. Now they've cancelled the 2023 Nationals because they 'won't be ready'...effing useless! At least 'The Bend' has a good reason for not having their drag racing ready as they're a new venue, but Calder is just the worst. They make ANDRA look bad by association.

my drag racing memories were of the vandal aa fueller and graeme withers from melbourne racing at castlereagh[ now housing]Was a AHRF steward.nobody at one meet would race withers as he had a huge crack down one bore. his crew said to him not to run and save the motor for parts[392 chrysler hemi]did a solo with a load of nitro on the lane furthest away from the spectators, huge blow up down the track and a split block. Also remember surfers in 1970 when a AAfueller threw a rod and the piston landed near the pit wall. Acrew member jumped the fence and picked it up with no gloves on. Soon a dropped piston and choice words. Team i was on took out middle eliminator with a bored and stroked holden 6 dragster against v8.nearly every run we psyched the others that our motor was rattling. Of course it was not as we were peaking at 6500 and the motor could rev to nine. ran a diff in the 3,s as that was peak torque.oh to be young again- still got my fj in shed and hot motor that broke crankshafts with it.

Picture of the kitty litter reminds me of racing Texas MiniGP in Denton TX. Drag strip has since closed, but it aimed right at the kart track. Post minis racing some of us would hang out on our side of the fence so cars were running straight at us. Plenty of time for most cars to stop. Way too exciting when chutes failed to deploy though.

WSID racing recently saw one of the local TDRA races reach for the sky. Licence plate says it all. Might be time for some wheelie bars!

Also, at the same WSID meeting, Steve Bezzina’s twin-turbo Proline powered XW punched out a 6.66 at 212MPH en route to the final where he recorded a 6.67 212mph win. It might be time for a HQ versus XW match race series? They're both on par performance wise.

I have seen some stuff about No Prep Kings loading their cars into containers and heading for Australia?????
It would be interesting to see where they are running and who exactly is coming.
One of the newest cars built for NPK https://www.dragzine.com/features/s...daddy-dave-reveals-new-no-prep-kings-audi-s5/

Should have checked first... Perth, Melb, Willowbank and Sydney. with some big Aussie names prepping cars to take on Street Outlaws..

Lots of drag racing happening at regional tracks in 2023. Good to see plenty going on in VIC for a change. I might have to try a drag racing safari during the year and do a couple of back-to-back country meetings. Maybe TDRA/Dubbo/Ironbark if the dates line up or HPR/Portland/Sunraysia? Hopefully, the price of diesel starts to fall soon.
