Yeah double checked and the equation is p=P/Q. You think they would make the pressure and power a different letter. Anyway, I haven’t had any experience with solenoid pumps but what you are saying sounds right. In short we are still hitting a wall. I wouldn’t think the FZR pump would be much different to a CBR250r when it comes down to it.

    ACE - 1 word: Generic.

Yamaha charges an INSANE amount for fuel pumps. Get a universal pump from repco or bursons. Bursons right near monash uni are the most helpful guys ever.

The pump doen't need to do anything but pump the minimum required PSI and flow. My pump does both. The carbies only get what they ask for, so extra power doesn't hurt.

I did a quick calculation on flow rates and a guess on how much fuel a FZR250 would use based on my riding experience.

    AT 100kph I average 17K per Litre = 5.9litre per Hour or 100cc/minute.
Allow a factor of 5 for when you are flogging it (short term peak load) and guess that 500c.c./Minute would be in the ball park.

Working from another angle, if 250c.c. engine revs at 16000rpm then aproximately .25*16000/2 litres of air is going thru per minute. Divide by air:fuel vapour ratio, ~12.6:1 we get 158 Litres a minute of fuel vapour.
If some-one knows how much fuel multiplies when it vapourises, we can divide 158 by that figure and have a rough idea of how much fuel is used. (NEED HELP ON THAT ONE)

The CBR250 pump would probably be just fine.

well, I still think a generic pump is the way to go.. BUT I no longer reccomend a 43 dollar fuel pump. In fact I never did, but thought it was worth a shot. It's ALREADY dead! 3x5 minute runs and the bastard is dead. Very dead! Looks like I'm getting my money back for that, and I'll get a decent pump..

Oh well, what else to expect for a 43 dollar pump?

i've got a spec sheet here which says about the fuel pump:
    - Consumption Amperage (max): 0.8A
    - Output Pressure: 10kPA (which i think is ~1.45PSI using daves conversion factor)

That's all it says on the fuel pump. (Except for the very useful description of "Type: electrical"

Yep i always enjoy it when something i buy doesn't blow up. Restore's one's faith in his fellow man and respect for the principles of commerce.
