TBone is about to make fiberglass moulds of my 3LN-3 fairings. He'll be able to sell them cheaper than regular wreckers, who charge on average $250 per fairing.

Wait around, they should be avaliable soon.

I guess the important question is 2KR or 3LN-3?
If it's a 3LN-3 then as Timbus said (i find i'm repeating that a bit lately!), TBone is about to get into production of road or race fibreglass fairings.

If it's a 2KR then i'd still give TBone a PM as he's quite the hand at plastic welding. My LHS fairing (even in it's unfinished state) is like a roving advertisment for his work... so if your ever down at a Netrider coffee night feel free to check it out.

While it is good to hear it was directed at Thommo and the "Need Help" thread, didn’t hear back from him is all.

Sorry Ciaran, I did get it going, still dont know what happened but it starts every time now. Its a 91 model, so which one would that be? the 3 Im guessing?. With the fairings, would it be possible to have them sent down to Melbourne? because that would be great.
Thanks for all your help, Matt.

If you post a picture of it we'll be able to tell you pretty quickly what sort of bike it is. But assuming it's a single headlight then it's a 3LN-3 (or newer). You can confirm this by posting the serial number on the frame... it will be something like 3LN-########.

As for posting fairings to Melbourne, i'd recommend wrapping them up in bubble wrap, then putting them into a bigger box - then getting a courier. I'd imagine it wouldnt cost you more than about $20 each way. (I used to courier 19" & 21" computer monitors for ~$12 anywhere in the state).

sorry to get yer hopes up guys, apparently TBone can't easily make fiberglass moulds out of fiberglass fairings =(

So unless he finds an easy way of doing that, it looks like cheap fairings are still nonexistant. May I urge anyone out there with plastic, undamaged fairings to contact TBone right away.

if I had my old bike I could...

t-bone - contact Bruce - he has a few fzr250 fairings laying around last time I was there. Perhaps he would be willing to help you out? It would help him out as well - afterall he does fix up fzr250's a lot... (perhaps you can work out some sort of trade...)

Bruce?

Looking at that FZR250 for sale in the other forum, it's going to need some fairings repaired:
http://onlya4.aeoth.net/fzr-small/fzr014.jpg

I think the lass I'm looking into it for will also want it resprayed.

Any idea what the cost of the repairs and a respray will be?

I'm thinking if she gets the bike, then we leave the fairings in melbourne to get repaired (Tbone?) and get the bike shipped up here to canberra for a full service / fluids change... then the fairings can be shipped up here once they're fixed (Bronnie's keen to get riding

Anyway, I need a rough estimate of the cost of having this done, so she has an idea of how much she'll be forking out all up.

a great backyard dealer with very reasonable prices who will talk your ear off but knows all about fzr250's. He buys them from bike swap meets, fixes them up well, and sells them. He knows most (if not all) part numbers, and usually has everything in stock. GIven that he also has spare fairings around I thought he may help tbone out in making his moulds.

You say that if its a single headlight then its a 3LN. But mine has twin headlights and its a 3LN. Is this odd?

No, just means it’s a 3ln1. Single headlight came in 1991 with the 3ln3 from memory.

3LN3 is undoubtably the best of the pack.
I say this without bias...

Who am I kidding? It's cos I got a 3ln3

Anyways. I'm not sure but I think that the 3ln3 fairings fit the 3ln1, but they don't look the same. Shouldn't matter.
