    I think the 520 would be cheaper.. as there is more choice.. also I found out the CBR250 is ment to use a 428.. odd I still have to see one with a 428... all I have seen were 520...

    Ahh crap, you think its all solved, and he hits you with another bomb..

    If theres more links on a 428 chain, how many links are recommended for the 428 chain? I wouldnt have a clue. I'm picking up my bike tomorrow, and ill count the links if its a 428 setup. (wow, that'll be exciting)

    I'm 100% soure 428 chain needs to be 130 links long!

    sooo some one should have a play around and find out how many does 520 chanin need..! I so wish I had a manual for these bikes!!

    Can every one take a look at their bike ASAP and check what size chain they got?? if any one finds a 520 can they let us know how many links it has??

    Pretty sure mine was 120 links long, and I had to cut about 5-6 out IIRC.
    I can't be 100% sure, cause it was a long time ago now.

    Working totally mathematically, being the smartass that I am, 130 links at 4/8ths of an inch pitch = 65inches. Thats for the 428.

    if the chain length is 65 inches optimal, then 65 divide 5/8ths (the pitch of the 520 chain) = 104 links exactly.

    Of course, thats assuming that the pitch of each link doesnt overlap or anything, and it could well do (im not sure what the absolute mechanical definition of'pitch' is)

    Went to the bike shop today and asked about chains while I was there.

    Both 428 and 520 chains were listed in their book, with 130 and 120 links, 17/55 & 13/42 sprockets respectively.

    There was no mention as to which model uses what, but there was an asterisk beside the 520*.

    Also the TZR250 uses 520 chain only. <!-- s:???: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":???:" title="Confused" /><!-- s:???: -->

    I hope that helps..

    Yay! Now it's all solved!

    Looks like my calculations were a bit off...
    Damn mathematics. What has it ever done for me?
