Hey there, I have just bought a 1988 Yamaha fzr 250 exup (it is my first bike actually) and first of all I would just like to say that i have found this forum very helpful, and i have found answers to almost all my newbie questions, however i still have a few that i'm sure you will be able to help with:

    1. What is the small fluid resevoir in the compartment below the pillion seat with the pop off (not screw off) cap?

    2. I was reading the fzr400 parts manual and i noticed a 'helmet clip'. However i can't find it on my bike anywhere. Did all models come out with one or is it possible that i just dont have one?

Any help here will be much appreciated!

i think thats your coolant resevoir dude, i have a 3Ln model (single headlight) and thats where my coolant goes.if you ever look underneath or take your rhs fairing off you can see it more clearly. im not too sure what a helmt clip is though bro.More exp guys here on the forum could answer that for ya

    welcome to the forums.

1: coolant as sandog suggests. this is the overflow bottle - similar to car

2: in the same side as said bottle, there a place to lock ur helmet. it is just under the ducktail. if u cant find it, it could have been removed? i assume all models hav them, mine is 2kr 88 with exup as well and it has it.

dave...someone could just cut your helmet off with the clip...lol nothings stopping them. But really theres not much point..if u look at the constuction of the helmet....you couldn't really repair it..so they'd only be doin it to piss you off....And theres nothing stopping them from just kicking your bike over anyway. <!-- s:mad: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mad.gif" alt="" title="Mad" /><!-- s:mad: -->

I've e-mailed you a picture of my actual bike (using your e-mail button at the bottom of your post). Or you could also point to this: http://www.motorbikes.be/en/Yamaha/1996/YZF 750 R/ as it is the same colour scheme, and the only difference is that mine has a rack on the back (click on the image for a blown-up view)

mine doesn't have this helmet clip that you guys are describing underneath the fairing.
I do what dean does and place the buckle over the metal loop inside the boot, then i just close the seat.

i have a helmet clip on mine but no idea how to get my helmet onto it, solving a rubiks cube would be easier. I usually end up just taking my helmet with me, dont really want some person flogging a $400+ peice of equipment or damaging it

prob is the loop on my helmet is pretty well inside the actual helmet so its not quite long enough to reach the hook on the helmet

you just open the lock with your key, slip the helmet strap buckles onto the loop and then close it (it locks itself) - only problem is the helmet ends up hanging upside down and if it rains the lining gets all wet
