Good news everyone! Looks like the valve clearances are in spec (just on the intake side)
    Intake Exhaust
    11 11
    .18 .25
    12 12
    .15 .25

    21 21

    .15 .25

    41 41
    .15 .25
    42 42
    .18 .25

    Intake is meant to be .15 ~ .24mm and Exhaust .20 ~ .29mm
When doing this I didn't know quite what to look for so I went for the first one that fit in easily (which was a little difficult as my feeler gauges are slightly too large for the slot, so they had to bend a little.

I also took the opportunity to check out the spark plugs, They look just about new and the gaps are right in the middle .75mm spec. Things a looking good engine wise (as we thought when riding the bike).

Last thing to do with the engine works is properly cleaning out the Carbs and possibly attempting a re-sync... Hopefully

work has been progressing pretty quickly since I got the frame back. Swing-arm and suspension is in and torqued. Motor is in. Got some tires put on the rims today. I'm pretty much all set to just keep working till it's done. Some minor detail work to be done here and there but nothing that I can think of that might stop the project.

The way things are progressing I wouldn't be surprised if I (am trying to) fire it up some time this the weekend. Thanks goodness for being single with no attachments :drinks:

Now that everything else is looking Goooood. Is there anything I can do to get the pedals and pegs looking the same? Looks like road grime on them really hard to clean off. I don't think paint will last and I don't want to soak them in soaps encase it stuffs the springs inside them or something. Any suggestions? Not a great picture but basically they look as much they did when I started. I can always take them off again once it's all working so I don't mind coming back to this step later.

I would attack them with steelo soap pads then some decent metal polish
Same with the brackets and heal guards

Just spray a bit of grease into the springs and where they swivel

Hi guys, photo album updated but I've been pretty busy with (stupid) life things. The weekend is almost over and the motor is STILL not started because I've had a few water leaks around the water pump. I really shouldn't have opened that can of worms up. Now I'm waiting for a second lot of Ultra blue to cure before putting water in it and starting the thing up. Here's a semi-decent sample of how it should look with all the panels on (test fit just for photos) daymn. small.jpg

I've been told it holds water. So if your luck enough I might film the thing starting up tonight.

I think I kept saying PRI for primary but I meant Priming. I got the airbox and wiring buttoned down after that but it was a bit late to fire it up again. I'm keen to see if it runs a bit smoother this afternoon. Then it's panels and off to the RWC

When u start it don't rev the crapper out of it ..... let it warm up but even then don't rev it out like crazy when its stationary

under load while riding is when to test out the rev range
