    **UPDATE**
Wrapped the exhaust, looks pretty good.
tried to start her up, to no avail.
It was turning over but didn't sound like it was sparking/firing. Checked the power to coils...nothing. Fixed that, realised there was a wire that was supposed to be spliced into but it was missing. Fixed that.
    Still nothing.
Pulled the plugs and they weren't wet or anything :-(
So I assume I'm not getting any fuel in there at all :-(
oh well, it'll have to wait until Monday or Tuesday now :-(

Just out of curiosity with the spark, does this model have a clutch safety switch or is she a little before that time?

There's no clutch switch on the wiring diagram so u don't think it has one. I think the issue is I'm not getting any fuel. Could be timing :-(

    2 things to do:
pull the plugs but leave them connected to the coils , touch the threaded part of the plug to the body of the engine (only hold the rubber part that covers the plug otherwise you could get shocked), crank the engine over and see if they are sparking.

If they are then add a small amount of fuel to each cylinder (5-10mls), put the plugs back and crank it , if it fires then thats good.

It might just end up being that the floats are set too low or something , try with the choke as well, i do find that if the carbies and fuel line to the tank are dry then some 'start-ya-bastard' can help it pull enough fuel through

    Got her running!
    Now to tune it!
Cam timing was the issue, as I thought :)

    :-(
So much has happened in one week.
    I'll start from the top.

Got the bike running ^^^^^See the video, I did!
But it wasn't running the best and was hanging a little etc
plus the RH cylinder seemed to be running stronger than the left.
After a balance/sync I decided to pull the air filters off while it was running to see if the slides/diaphragms were working correctly.
It died, slowly ran out of puff. No worries I thought. Put the air filters back on and nothing. Wouldn't run properly then kept dying and wouldn't start.
Felt like we weren't getting fuel through the pilot, so I pulled the carbies and cleaned out the jets again etc, then I raised the floats by 1mm to allow more fuel into the bowls etc

I pulled the cam cover off to check the cam timing again, fearing it may have slipped a tooth, it hadn't.
In that process I lost a cam (half moon seal thing) down the timing chain valley without noticing...then throughout the cam timing by a lot, so much that turning it over by hand, I felt the piston touch the ex valves.

So I fixed that (**** around of a job but I fixed it)
Cam timing back to where it should be.
Bike started and ran like ****, full choke to start then half choke to run etc, it didn't sound healthy at all. then it died, just like last time. I pulled a plug and it was wet (maybe put float heights back?) but then I checked the spark and nothing. No spark coming from either side. But i checked if I was getting 12v to the coils and I was.

I don't know what to do, the only thing that has changed was the float height, but none of that explains why it died in the first place.

    HEEEEEEELLLLLLPPP me please :)

Did you put the plug leads on in the right order? There's only 2 ways they can go on for a 2 cylinder.

Put your float height back as well.

Quick update. Bike is running, I haven't spent any time tuning it yet.
I've almost finished the tank :)

Your bike looks great, that paint job is awesome. Im doing my own gsx and im up to attaching the fuel lines. And chance you could get a picture of the carbs and where the lines are connected? Would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Brooke,
I don't have a pic handy, but basically there are 3 places for hoses to go.

Looking at the carbs from the air filter side, there is a 'T' right in the middle, that is for the fuel line. On the right hand carb there are 2 brass pipes/nipples. The one closest to the engine, at the back of the carb is the vacuum line for the fuel petcock. The other is just a breather line that goes into the airbox/down behind the crankcase. Do not block it off, other wise you will flood the carb as this creates negative pressure and draws more fuel than is needed into the carby throat.

Good luck, also look at the manual and it shows you the lines.
    :)

thankyou heaps makes my life easier. Also there is s pipe on the top coming out of the cylinder head breather does that plug into anything? And the carbi breather line does it have something to join to a plug?

Pipe coming straight out of the motor will be the crankcase breather ..... its open and should just be routed towards the ground away from any moving parts.

Yep what Grey said ^^^^^ or if you get adventurous you could always put a little filter on there, but you might end up increasing your crankcase pressure a bit much.
