Well today I semi got pod filters working, still running a tad rich I think but an improvement none the less.
Got my contour Gps cam working new mount for bike and hd memory card on way to get some footage of racing!!!
The 1977 Yamaha IT250D is now almost ready for Classic Dirt Track racing this year. A new Michelin trials tyre is on the front because the 2015 Australian Titles at Temora require trials tyres front and back and original wheel sizes. So I need to get used to a front trials tyre. New shorter front brake cable. Re-fitted the DG silencer so it now tucks in nice and close. New high volume fuel tap. Increased main jet size ready for high speed testing. Mark fitted an O-Ring into the head to remove the gasket to increase compression and reduce the squish. The intake manifold and reeds were restricting the flow of the 39mm Mikuni carb so I had to: Squeeze in the largest reed block that I could without grinding the cylinder. It is such a tight fit that 4 out of 6 reed petal screw spring washers had to be removed to get it in. Fit Yamaha fibre reeds and reed stops with large cutouts and bent open a couple of extra millimetres. Open up the manifold using a porting tool to give it more area than a 39mm hole. Here she is:
Missus bought me it years ago not cheap if I to buy another I get the kaiser baas x100 only 169 bucks at jb hi fi mate
Well it wasn't today but back home last time I leaned out both needles by 1 clip. Also richened the idle circuit slightly using the air screw on both carbs. Took her for a run and she ran like an absolute champion with much less smoke as well.
Finally fired off the mc22 tonight. I shouldn't have messed with it the way my day has gone, but I did anyway and it made me happy. Sounds gnarly without a can on it. Unfortunately it's almost midnight and I have a leak in my fuel source so no more playing tonight. 2 things are keeping me from riding it tomorrow. #1 waiting on pistons for the front brakes. #2 adapter for pingel petcock. I ordered a 20mmx1/4npt" (lulz) instead of a 22mmx1/4"npt.
Took my cibby for a blat around the hills, it's running really well except for a slight stutter low down, wondering if she is running a tad rich
I return from the land of the dead XD got bike back from exhaust shop, went for a quick ride yesterday, played up a little hopeing its just the 3mth old fuel that was left over. Filled up and it seemed to go a little better, will test it over the next couple of days and decide whether to get it tuned or not.
