    It will certainly give you the shits trying to get the fueling right, but you will giggle like a looney when it is right.

    And that is the problem my friend. When you make more HP, then you need the rest of the engine/gearbox unit to be strengthened to cope with it. Then the frame needs bracing to handle the extra power, then upgrade brakes to try and stop it, etc, etc.
    Bikes are so great in that if you want to go faster you just buy a bigger one that has all the necessary bigger bits already on it from the factory.

    I think my 400 is over the top in the frame dept but the con-rods would snap like twigs. :)

    Supercharging Honda MC28
    Here is a Honda on a dyno. It makes 44 hp according to
    Let’s say 42 as a round figure. I found this somewhere too
    Displacement: 249.00 ccm (15.19 cubic inches)
    Engine type: In-line four, four-stroke
    Power: 45.00 HP (32.8 kW)) @ 14500 RPM
    Torque: 2.40 Nm (0.2 kgf-m or 1.8 ft.lbs) @ 11500 RPM
    Top speed: 185.0 km/h (115.0 mph)

    Now imagine we want to get 60 hp and use the information from Rotrex..
    By inserting the expected hp figure of the supercharged engine into the formula below, we now get the expected flow

    Flow [kg/s] = supercharged hp / 1200

    Since the target power in this example is 60hp, we have the following flow:.

    Flow [kg/s] = 60 / 1200 = 0.05kg/s

    The approximate pressure ratio needed to produce this power on the given engine can be approximated from the formula below. The pressure losses through the filter, pressure pipes, intercooler and intake system including the power to drive the supercharger are approximated to about 15%, thus multiplying by 1.15 in the formula.

    PR = (hp supercharged / hp original) x 1.15

    PR = (60 / 42) x 1.15 = 1.64 (about 9.4 psi boost)

    The C8-8 has a maximum pressure ratio of of 2.33 and a max flow of 0.65 kg/sec
    I would choose that one because the bigger unit has so much potential to create too much boost.
    [IMG] [IMG]
    Then you use the formula to calculate your pulley diameter. I would want to put milder cams and lower the compression somewhat if I were doing something nutty like this. Also you are going to need the Carrillo rods and stronger everything. $$$ Ka-Ching and you have a very expensive 60 horsepower motorcycle.

    Edit: There are probably a heap of errors and omissions here. Sorry about that. A good technical guide can be found here http://www.stealth316.com/2-3s-compflowmaps.htm#cp

    Last week I bought myself a Sony Action cam HDR-AS20, they were on special at JB-HI-FI for $211, Why not eh?
    Then I bought some GoPro mounts (I know, GoPro AND Sony?)..
    The camera in the box came with a GoPro adapter from tripod, to gopro mount, so I rigged up the camera to my helmet and damn I look like cop, haha.

    Poor ZXR is still not at home, getting looked over. The voltage regulator (below the tank?) gets hot, which is causing my bike to die, alot. So the mechanic is going to relocate that in the tail, near the lights so the engine doesnt heat it up. smart as if you ask me lol

    Question: IS there ANY way I can get a ZXR a model / CBR250rr instrument cluster to work/fit on my C model ZXR?

    Replaced the fairing/instrument mount and left clip-on on Nix. She now has a much straighter windscreen and the right mirror and left handlebar no longer move when they shouldn't.

    Put the aftermarket replica front indicators on the FZR400 and replaced the original stator cover as the the screw for the cable clip on the aftermarket one is well and truly stuffed. Cut the top of it off with my rotary tool so will have to drill it out if I want to use the cover later.

    About to have some lunch and decide if I want to start doing top end rebuilds on Scarlet and Rosie as I have all the gaskets I should need.

    Once again Murdo, you have nailed it!! How many times have I heard people wanting the extra grunt (hp) but without the extra weight and flexibility of lets say of a 250cc bike. Horses for courses.

    Ordered brand new head light for the zeal. Rear brake bracket is no longer produced. Only one new one in Australia in WA according to computer system but old system so won't know until tomorrow.

    Now for a question they no longer make/ can obtain the two long pipes for the carby to airbox but can still get the small ones. Will the airbox still run fine with 4 of the small ones instead?

    Yes. The different lengths give a different tuned length to the inlet tract. The popular belief is that they use the two different lengths to achieve a slightly broader spread of peak power. For more information search for velocity stack length.
