I get 300 from 12L.... 4L/100, and I'm running rich... Might be because I'm very easy on the throttle around town :(

    What fuel are you using?

Yeah let me know how you go. I only use 95+, my 750 gets 5L/100... your 250 shouldn't be using that much

The carbs came off again tonight for a little sync and pilot adjustment they are definately better, even barely screwed back into the boots she fired and ran better then it did before ;) I'll have to close up and go for a ride tomorrow:neo:

Also would a new fairing kit such as below add to resale value atleast equal to the cost?

so the old girl is running great now! will be interesting to see my mileage now it is nice and balanced :p gonna have to save some dollars to get some fairings. I also went down and got a kbs tank repair kit to derust and seal my yellow tank but will post my progress in the tank repair thread :)

I also need to do the brakes as they are sticking some times :( would a pull apart and cleaning of the piston do any good? or am I up for as seal kit? I hope not as they are $40 per caliper (damn you ZXR and your twin discs lol) it will probably be money well spent especially if it goes up for sale.

The next owner is definitely going to get a better example of a ZXR then i had when i first got her :thumb_ups:

    For brakes:

    http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/maintenance/4305927-2

I did this to all my calipers, only spent money on brake fluid and my brakes feel like new. Don't worry if you lose the dust seals in the process, losing them is not too detrimental unless you're riding in a sandstorm regularly...

Use an inner circlip plier to pull out the pistons, mine had some corrosion which I hit with 1500 wetndry and got rid of it, then I removed all seals and dug out all the black gunky crap in and around the seal which was stopping the smooth movement.

    Cheers

    Great First Bike.

Know what your saying with the resale of these things. The next owner of mine is going to get a better bike than what I got!

My last tank it did 292km from 15.1L I'm down to 5.1L/100km. Getting there :) I was up it for most of the tank it was revving at 10500 whilst doing 120km/h

I did an oil change and decided to try repsol I'm a sucker for advertising ( damn you racing Hondas lol)
    image.jpg
I chose it as it was fully synthetic and $64 compared to the semi-synthetic motul 5100
Feedback from the first ride. Gear changes are a lot smoother and bike is revving cleaner compared to the 4000km old motul 5100 :).

might have to try this oil, as i keep putting on k's the gearbox gets clunkier, starts missing gears randomly ( makes me look like a noob in town, who misses 4th gear anyway?).

also with your guys fuel consumption what sort of revs do you cruise at in traffic i sit at 6-10k, haven't really gotten over 230k's to a tank (the bike does see 18k rpm nearly daily though).

I will keep you posted RE the oil I haven't missed a gear with this stuff yet even second used to pop out but not ATM.

yeah I try for less then 6k in 60 zones my bike pulls fine even uphills in 6th, on the highway however i cant help but sit on 110ish at around 10k rpm i should tuck in to save some fuel haha

i don't like putting to much load on the engine, i remember hearing somewhere its much worst to putt around at low rpms than it is to rev the tits of these 4cyl 250's.

my bike doesn't like anything under 8-9k for acceleration (i think due to the exhaust i have on it, stock exhaust feels much smoother), so any overtaking or general hooning means downshifting and hard acceleration. Im a believer that proper maintenance, warming the bike up etc etc will prolong the engine life even if i give her a smashing every other day.

i have seen bikes with LOW k's (5-10k, 5 years old) that are utter shite because people don't look after them because they don't know how.

I have also had people yell at me because i was sitting at 8k in traffic, saying i was going to blow the engine up if i kept revving it that high.

well compared to you're average 4 cyl car they redline at 6k and rev at 3k down the hwy 8k seems about right as its under half the redline ;)
