I was trying to start up my bike after it sits for a few months or so. Charged up battery, cleaned carburetors, make sure fuel flows, got spark but its still hard to start. Been cranking for days and my mechanic friends enlighten me there might be loss of compression and suggest a little or two engine oil into the combustion chamber via spark plug hole I did it through intake with throttle plate wide open and found out my engine start showing sign of life and engine start up pretty nice. Left the bike idle good and then shut off the engine. After few hours, it is not starting anymore and I had to do the engine oil trick again. Was wondering if my piston ring does not hold oil like its suppose to? Anyone has similar situation before?
have one and found unless you follow the correct method of starting you can crank all day and not have it start .. easily flooded ... dont touch the throttle ....choke full on hit starter and as it fires release choke which will go back to 1/2 choke on being released then just let it warm up .. touch the throttle while hitting the starter and you may as well walk away for a while ... easily flooded .. sorry if you already knew / tried this but having a few bikes know its easy to get starting methods mixed up and these are tempremental .. oil down the plug hole is a good way to break rings
Check the fuel tank cap breather, try to start the bike with the fuel cap open when it gives trouble. If it immediately goes, then the breather/drain tube is blocked.
