I only know that Hagon still sell ZXR250 rear shocks, but some say they were designed for the A model? My bike came with a Hagon shock, it just feel harsh and not absorbing no matter how i tune it.... perhaps the shock is gone, but i don't see the shaft getting wet. Is there any better options? how about the D model shocks?
I have been tuning the preload and rebound, can't find a sweet spot, nowhere near as good as the basic ohlins on my Hawk GT
I have emailed Nitron Suspension in UK http://www.nitron.co.uk/ . They said if I send my Hagon to them as reference, they can build me a "R1" shock for 328 pounds, plus 50 pounds for development cost, excluding shipping. I am asking how much for their "R2" shock with piggy back too. Any one here have interest?
The Nitron was going to be my choice, until I got the cheap Ohlins option, mostly because they do one-offs. You should also check the original shock length and travel because owners often fit any shock that they can shoehorn into place.
No, my bike is a Yamaha FZR400RR which there is no Ohlins shock listed for. However, Ohlins have opened a factory in Thailand, where I live, and one of the shocks that they produce can easily be adapted for my bike. Story is here http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/the-yamaha-r4-glacially-slow-project.3099/page-4 cheers Blair
I fitted a nice Yamaha YZF125 shock to my ZX2 as it was just the right size and damping would have been set up for a similar weight machine to mine. Worked great!!
The length seemed fine. Not sure if the shock that came with my project bike was an original...... I just needed to widen the lower eyelet diameter with a drill a smidge to take the lower linkage. You do this at your own risk in terms of strength left in mount. Mine didn't fail in the time I had it .
