Hey guys, im here today for a little bit of advice on a recent noise that has started on my zxr. My bike is a 92 C model zxr 250 with an A model engine (bout 115 000kms on the clock, not sure about the engine tho), has been running well and even with the noise im getting is still running fine. Now the noise i am getting seems to be coming from the engine but i am unsure. It comes on at pretty much exactly 6500, will stay till 7000 RPM and then go away. it will not start again until i drop to 6500 which it will disappear conversely at about 6000 RPM. This is all under engine load aswell, i cannot trigger it in neutral. The noise is hard to describe, it is like a very fast ticking sound or a very fast rattle. I good description would be the noise u get when ur riding a bicycle and u stop peddling and u here that tick tick tick, just this noise but very fast. it is not very loud, quite faint but still noticeable. My guess its it has something to do with the vibration frequency at the RPM range that is causing something to rattle but just wanting to know if anyone thinks its bad? ie cam chain related or something like that

Cam chain noise is usually most noticeable at idle and then quiets down as the revs increase. You might have a loose fastener on the bike or something rattling against the frame or engine. I'd take the tank & fairings off and go over everything with one of those retractable magnets on a stick to see if you can find what's making the noise.

As long as the noise is not always there and doesn't get faster when the engine revs higher, it's likely nothing serious.

Had the same thing on my zxr250c right around 7000rpm myself, had me puzzled for months ended up being the fuel cap of all things, the bit you lift to put the key in, found it by accident one day looking for that rattle and put my forearm on the tank, wouldn't rattle when the bike wasnt moving at 7000rpm either

Had this on my first C model. Turned out to be my keyring.
