Hey Team, looking for some help with the running of my ZXR 250 Street Fighter Project. We bought this project as a non runner. The cam chain tensioner had collapsed so we opted to buy another engine just incase there has been cam chain issues. Unfortunately the second engine arrived with its own issues. We've successfully mated the two engines and cherry picked the good bits. We've also cleaned and rebuilt the carbs with new o rings gaskets etc. But we're still having running issues. It rides well however It's reluctant to tick over under 2000rpm and doesn't want to start when warmed up. Any ideas?

Did you check the valve clearances when you mated the engines? Carb balancing never goes astray either.

+1 for carb balancing, especially if you've disassembled and cleaned them
    +1 for valve clearances
Also, If it won't idle you're dealing with the idle circuit.
It's the smallest jets and have you adjusted the idle mixture screws?

    Hi A?,
Is that you who bought a set of airbox seals and is having issues fitting them? If so you can ask the good people on this forum if they fit and how they fit. No need to take my word for it.
    Cheers
    Blair

A thousand apologies. The factory made our last batch from old tooling which was supposed to have been destroyed. Have sent you an email.

    Yes we did
The valve clearances were done, but yes the balancing could probably do with looking at.
