The ZXR250 is a decent bike. It's based on the ZXR400 engine but with a shorter stroke (i believe), so generally they're fairly reliable when it comes to maintanence. I recently did an engine swap on a ZXR250A for my house mate and ended up putting the bike on road for WELL below it's market value, so he got a damn good deal there.

In terms of kit and fitout they're a bit of a mixed bunch. They use USD forks (good!) yet use single sided brake calipers (IMO bad!). They share a lot of components with the Kawasaki 2-stroke's of the same era, so parts are fairly readily available. The frame size is a bit longer than the FZR, and quite a bit bigger than the CBR so if your a larger rider it may be a good thing for you.

Personally i don't enjoy riding the ZXR250 as much as i do the FZR250. The power delivery has a different character (i think it's the EXUP i like). They tend to also be rather overpriced selling for on average ~$4200+ when the FZR250's are available for low to mid $3k.

I just rode the zx2r its better under 10g then my bike.but it is really stiff iwas doing about 100khs and i went over a bump on the road and i got air off the seat but i am only 68kg.LOOKS.It looks really good.I found You have all the power from when you let the clutch out till well i got it to rev at bout 14g and it didn't mind it at all.It is a bit bigger and longer than mine. The take off is the worst thing about it you really got to use the rev's to get it to move or it will conk out on you.I just thought i would let you's know how it go's.
