Got sick of my "no revs after a minute of running" thread and felt like a change..

So here we are . What can I say ..Not happy . For 2 reasons , 1. thinking I could cut corners 2.the cut corners idea didn't work
Bike sounds like it is miss firing , cam is noisy (not sure if was me , cause I think it was noisy at purchase)
And it's giving the impression of an air leak at idle, the vid didn't shoe it well cause I need to get it hotter before that starts , when I pull up at the lights it's revving way to high then drop to low and stalls.
It backfires/pops/misses I dun know what ya call it bad down low so I can't take off quick enough to get out of trouble

Short vid to show. I really should have made a vid on the road aswell ,

I do see the bikes potential , as from 90 k's an hour onwards it pulls just fine .. I guess you could say at high revs it runs nice every gear ...now to get it to do that in the full throttle range. Low revs suck , high revs are nice , no tacho though so I can't be more accurate in my description.
someone could add a link in a reply to tacho checking .

Doesnt sound like its missing. My first fizzers cam is noisy, but that strangely went away.

First up. I see your using a bottle for fuel lol. Bet u didnt vent it aye? That could be a problem, which was leading my second fizzer down the shitter.

Secondly, your main filter looks really dirty, i dont know though, i have different one.

Yeah the bottle was vented when I used it. Saves messing around with a tank when testing.
I got into some work on the bike , readjusting the valve setting and lowering the clip on my carb needles and all went well until this happened , I have a bigger problem now ................

someone (wont mention the doofus's name) didn't check the torque setting before wrenching away did he , noooooo

So yes that is the thread you see there on the end of a cam bolt , will I be lucky enough to get away with a tap and an ever so slightly larger bolt ???

after finally getting another compression tester it reads 120 across all 4 cyls , is this right . gotta beat 90x3 and 80 x1 before putting in the new shims.

The normal thing for stripped threads is to put a heli-coil thread insert in the hole. Most mech repair shops would be able to put one in for you.
The process is to cut a bigger thread with a special tap and screw the insert in the new thread.

I'll ask about the price of that repair , if it's cheap enough i might go that way . But so far I can buy the tap , drill and new bolt for under 10$ so that most likely will be the way I go.

To me it almost sounds like a thumper or a twin when idling, I assume you have done the obvious checks, like spark, fuel etc. Is the bike hard to start?

I can say no I haven't dived into electrics yet . And no not hard to start.
As it turns out the FZR is here to stay for longer than I thought so I can get more personal with it now.
To fix the hole by a thread repair pro , who comes to the house was 30$ so I did it that way.
redone the valve clearances , although the compression came up I just wanted them at top of clearance spec for my own peace of mind. Although 120 across all cyl's is still low isn't it ? I'm thinking the head may need to be pulled and rebuilt to be better than 120psi. I need to research costs to whether I do that this winter.
The fairing is ok , couple of cracks that need repair but I can start the sanding and prep for painting now . Tank has a couple of scratches but no dints which is good. I'll stick with the yellow black similar to how it is now but different pattern. And replace the broken wind sheild and tail light surround.
I'd just like it running 100% before I pull it down again so when it goes back together there will be less mucking around.
What else ... exup cables need replacing .
So not a great deal of issues to go now which is good. (painting doesn't count as an issue)

I like this , break up the yellow a bit as my bike is now. Cause I would prefer to stick to the yellow black theme it had.
Paint job was very poorly done.
With the tank stripped I have found some rust in there , so thats been added to the to do list.

Engine is coming out and cleaned up . I haven't decided to go black or yellow for the various covers on the motor , also paint or polish the frame ??? Calipers red ?

Remember to use the right paint and put a clear coat on, my new tank has decided to melt when some fuel hit it and my muffler gives off some nice hallucinogenics after riding.

6 weeks and no real progress on the FZR . Some small progress , it is sanded and ready for painting n polishing but I had to buy a truck so any money I had for my bikes is gone hence no updates for a while. Atleast it's been cold and rainy weather so I wouldn't have been out much anyway. As Arny would say " I'll be back "
