I know its not a 250 but I'm going out to look at a 94 yam tt350 which is suppose to be in very good cond but has a blown rear mono shock ,the only info found is for 86/87 models which says the shock cant be rebuilt but nothing on later models ..2nd hand shocks seem to be rare ,new 6-7-8 hundred ,anybody know if they can be rebuilt ? as this will greatly affect the price (or any one have a shock laying around or know of one off another bike that will fit..thanks
I was looking at buying a rough one a few year's ago to fix up and use as a road/trail, but it had a noisy countershaft and needed a new timing chain etc, ended up passing on it and not long after found My 1984 IT200L What length is the shock eye to eye? This guy was selling one on ebay in November, not sure on what condition http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/-/262697606764? You might be able to use something off a DT200 or WR ?
thanks ,tried to ring the suspension mob but my ph is out again ,bloody Telstra , looks like I'm just going to have to have a look and maybe neg him down to compensate for the non rebuildible (worse case sinerio ) shock or just pass on it ,depends on what the rest of its like and if its as good as they say..well I'm now off to have a look..
Sound's like a decent place ^ There used to be a very good suspension guy next to Rad Hard Chroming in QLD before they moved a few year's ago, they might be able to refer you on to him if he is still rebuilding shock's and fork's too? http://www.radhardchroming.com.au/
I had really nice 1991 TT350 last of the 6 volt Enduro models. It was a beaut bike and went really well to.You can make them perform pretty good , but nothing like bikes these days though.
well the tt350 has new home ,turned out better than expected ,fix the rear shock and it would go straight through road worthy , you all know what bikes are like , they breed..also bought a 1987 bmw off him as well ,complete with fairing, large panniers / small panniers all in good order, which will pick it up and pay for it tomorrow ....I never saw that one coming but was 2 good a deal to pass up
1987 k100RT..bloke was selling all his bikes due to health (heart) reasons ,think the wife might have had something to do with it , couldn't even bargin him down as would have felt to guilty so paid asking price without hesitation ,wish had the money for other 2 bikes ,one was a yam tdm850 3 months rego 1999 model with only 5500kls on it looked perfect condition $3500..will need a bit of work on the bm but shouldn't be to painful ,mainly from sitting for so long
tappets, battery, idle jets, oil filter change, check air filter then gearbox, diff and drive shaft oil levels. give a run and change those oils.
other was a 1989 gsx r750 , he was chasing $2000 .no rego.. kls ? didn't pay to much attention as had already spent well over my bank a/c but remembered was very clean and in good cond looking ,both bikes photos are on f/b Herberton buy swap and sell , as far as the bm ,starting off with fuel lines filters ,oil change etc etc before even attempting to start it ,the old fuel almost made me heave when open cap and smelt it , over 12 months old but first now the phs back on will chase up a rebuild for the tt shock (easy on the rd fix ) then worry about the bm in a couple of weeks , gives a chance to go right over the manual and do some enquiries ,already talked with bmw forum and they are very helpful ,1 bloke sent me a copy of the manual which I needed badly before starting anything
damm ,got in touch with all suspension ..$300 for basic service then plus depending on condition of shock ,the hunt is on
