    I've bought my fzr some years ago. I haven't use it too much, because it has broken. When I was buying it - i did'nt know what should I keep my eye on while buying it and I've bought my cycle with "almost dead" engine. I do not have a money to buy a new engine (specially when it is in Australia and I'm from POLAND) I'm still waiting for someone from EUROPE, who want to sell his engine, or I will sell my whole bike, if someone will want to buy it.

    Where do you live, and where's the bike? (City / State as well as country could be handy <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> ).

    You've said the engine's stuffed, but do you know specifically what's wrong with it?
    Is there anythign wrong with the rest of the bike?

    What price are you asking?

    Polak??

    LOL the FZR250 in poland would be such an rare bike... From my memory there are a number of little back yard mechanics all over poland who can do the most amazing things... like machining pistons out of raw materials... making theit own valves... etc... I would sugest you find such a mechanic... or fiting a different engine.. I mean out of a different make and model...

    I live in Poland.
    It's some medium country in east europe.
    I know what is broken.
    Crankshaft is broken. It has divided into two small crankshafts <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.
    The rest of bike is in good condition. I mean - I don't know a lot of technical words to describe what's wrong and what's right with this bike.
    The only thing I can say is that it looks good, I rided a lot with it, everything works good but engine - it made a lot of smoke over 13 000 Rpm - so you can imagine what is wrong with it.
    now I've stucked with it, because in Poland - there are 5, maybe 10 yamahas fzr 250, so It's a big problem to get any part for my bike.
    If you're interested buying it, or You want to help me to get a crankshaft and some other parts that are needed to fix the engine, or you can get me some engine and send it to polad - write to me <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> on <!-- e --><a href="mailto:cwwp@poczta.onet.pl">cwwp@poczta.onet.pl</a><!-- e -->

    Jestem Polakiem ale zyje w Australi... przez ostatnie 20 lat... Muj Polski jest... nie nalepszy bo wyjehalem jak bylem zeledwie 10 <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

    I think the crank shaft on these bikes is a fitted one... so fitting a new one without changing the crankshaft housing might be impossible... so basicaly the whole bottom end of the engine needs to be changed..

    There is no problem replacing the crankshaft. Did it on my own bike last summer.

    There is a code on the crankshaft and one on the lower half of the engine block.
    On the shaft there is a 9 digit code xxxxx-xxxx
    THe first 5 is the shaft bearings and the last 4 is the piston rod bearings.

    On the engine block there is a 5 digit code for the shaft bearings.

    What you do is:
    Take the first digit on the block and (subtract ?) minus the first digit on the shaft, that will tell you what kind of bearing to use on the first shaftbearing.
    Do this with all the digits and then go to your local dealer and order the bearings.

    All yamaha bearings are in colour code, and the number you have got equals one colour.

    eksample
    crankshaft is 35324-2222
    Engione block is: 13312

    This gives you: 22012-2222

    YOur local dealer will have the table for converting this numbers into colour code.
