Hmm I have a strange one, I get this whining noise coming (I think) from the front wheel, maybe the gearbox??? when i'm doing like 50km/h. It might be there when i go faster it's just that i can't hear it coz of the wind It sounds like a wheelbearing isn't greased up...but the weird thing is, the noise will stick around at that speed when im in 3rd gear but if i up-shift it, it will die down (while i keep constant speed). I'm sure it's nothing major but it's kind of annoying especially with all the school zones around my place.

What do you guys reckon?

Get it checked out. If you hear anything happening, the least you could do is stop riding.

It will most probably turn into something really bad. That's from my experience anyway :p Could be anything to a loose bolt or gear box about to go etc.

Did you get it checked out? Mine does the same but I think it is because the gears are straight cut gears. Let me know if its not though

Could be the gearbox, could be the chain/sprockets, could be alot of things!
The first thing that popped into my head was check to see if the speedo cable is lubed. If that's dry it can make some funny noises!

A quick way to test your bearings is to cruise in third gear at 50 kph, pull the clutch in and kill the motor, while still moving listen for the noise. Make sure you are in a quiet street.

You should be able to tell where the noise is coming from if it's there at all.

Let us know what happens.

Is it worse than this when I was riding thru the town centre. Ignore the loud vibration noise at higher rpm as the camera was mounted hard on the tank and picked up a lot of direct vibration over about 6000rpm.

3rd and 5th were a bit whiney at light loads, but this video does not show it all that much.

Yeah thats the same noise as mine makes, and since it is different in different gears it must be coming from the gears. My 2nd gear is the noisiest.

It would be a different story if it was growling in certain gears, then would be the time to worry...
