since i tuned my ZXR250A, i decided to track a tank of fuel, the figures surprised me! im down to 5.2L/100km compared to my old 7.0L/100km figures. http://www.fuelly.com/driver/callanmauric/zxr250a ^^ made a profile on "fuelly" website, a handy tool to track usage. so, share some data on your bikes, would like to see some real-time figures from inline 4's, parallel 2's, V-twins and the trusty old thumpers.
megelli gives me 73mpg, cb750 gives 50mpg and the 600 hornet gives 43mpg.interesting that the mgelli has 24hp, the 750 has 75[77]hp and the 600 has 97hp.
My Honda FT500 single will do 75mpg on a trip (3.9/100). My Honda ST1100 V4 does about 5.1/100. My Honda SL125 single did 2.8Lt/100Km last June at a steady 80Km/h.
i think the difference on the 2 honda,s is that the 750 revs to 9 thou and has a longer stroke [air cooled] and the 600 revs to 13.5 and has minimal flywheel effect[water cooled].the 600 thrives on revs while the 750 is a slugger. on the ride to tamworth the beast will go into top gear on leaving my street. the 600 would be playing piano keys on the gearbox.pity it does not ride as comfortably.
I've been doing some fuel data recording on my zxr250A, and atm it is looking quite bleak. I don't do a full tank, just whatever the trip meter says and the amount of fuel needed to fill up to the brim. I don't have the numbers handy, but I do remember they had me worried for a 250cc
Thanks Cal, the ST will normally get about 500Km to a tank. I think it's secret is the engine torque and gearing as it is only just on 3000rpm at 100Km/h. Two up and loaded the range is down to 450Km. Not bad for a 280Kg bike.
yeah, same with my zxr, was using as much juice as a 1000cc superbike at one stage but shim the valves to spec, same with the floats... even a new fresh air filter and some quality oil helps alot. if ur really keen fork out for some NGK CR9EIX (think thats close to the right code for irridiums). a cleaner hotter spark will burn a higher % of the standard air/fuel mixture making less wastage. good wheel bearings and tyre pressure helps too - just a few little things that stack up well
I had my carbies recently serviced, but they may need an overhaul I'm not sure. I know the general idea of doing shims but never done it myself! Wheels are getting powder coated atm and new bearings are going in. Thanks for the info, some food for thought there.
ebay.com, around 7.75$us plus freight.look for a package of 4 and freight costs which vary.some sellers sell separate or any quantity. just type in iridium spark plugs and heat range. different brands vary on price but ngk or denso [ford falcon factory fit] are good.
