ok tommo the file size is really small well under 1mb,

the program is written in java so it can run on any operating system, windows 95/98/2000/xp, apple mac, linix ect...

how ever in order for i to run you have to have the JavaVirtualMachine installed on you computer,

or what i can do is "bundle" the program with its own private virtual machine which will increase the file size a little bit probably 2mb so people without the java virtual machine can still run it, or you could offer both.

any way we got tonnes of time to decide, im refineing the program bit by bit, so far it only compare 250cc 4 strokes with one another, estimets there top speed and feul consuption ect.. so people can chose to compare what ever bike they want and see which one is the best although it's only a guide.

so far its got the suzuki across, kwak zx2r, honda cbr250, fzr 250, yammy zeal, hoysung comet gt250 and a few others, any other 4 stroe 250's u want added to the list just post 'em up and ill find the spec's for them and add them to the program

cant wait to check out the program once its finished. how did u ever decide to make this up?

    Suzuki

Those Suzukis are trippy how they have the trunk in the front where the tank should be and the petrol tank in the rear where the trunk should be. I read a test on one and the rider could only pull 145km/h hahahahahhahahaha slowwwww........... and he said its an ok bike if you want a bike to go to the corner shop and buy a loaf of bread other wise its crap..

I've been behind an across at 160 - so they can get up there if needed to (takes a bit longer than the fzr). But I am so jealous of thier storage room! They are also a larger bike so can't steer as well, but the person who I was following could definitely handle his! (He got ahead of me on corners - he was much more gutsy than I was, but I was able to catch him on straights usually).

They seem to be everywhere here... One of the more popular learner bikes lately. I would say that the cbr still outnumber them, but the acrosses certainly outnumber the fzr's.

    across

Well thats real strange. In NZ it would go CBR, ZXR, FZR, GPX than all those crapy V twins then the Across. Wonder why this is. hahahah

It seems, from reading the across forums, it has just as many troubles as the fzr. I am guessing most 250's, if you try to look after them, will have all the troubles that we have experienced on this forum. There hasn't been anything that strange on the fzr that we have discussed (oil, brakes, tires, the odd strange noise) - the only thing that may be extra would be the exup but that is quite an easy thing to fix. All are fairly straighforward mechanical stuff that can be expected. The disclaimer for this is that finding parts is a pain

I personally beleive, and this is my opinion, is that the only people who have a 250cc trouble free experience are those who are just ignorant of the troubles they are actually having! We (in this forum) all look after our bikes, and discuss things like air filters, carbies, etc. But if we just rode it, fill it with fuel, and ignore everything else until it dies then we too would seem to have a 'reliable' bike - only because you would not be aware of the fact that it could be performing better, or that you could keep it in good nick and it will last longer.

I have read zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance a few times, and there is a great dichotomy between two of the main characters. The first is one who loves to tinker with his bike, constantly seeing things that could be improved. The second is a bmw rider, who hates everything about his bike except for the fact that he wants to ride a bike. He bought a bmw because it is the most reliable. Throughout the book the 'tinkerer' constantly has minor problems with his bike, and constantly fixing it to ensure the perfect ride. The bmw rider sees this as meaning that the tinkerer's bike is unreliable. But as the story continues the bmw rider has some severe problems with his bike simply because he assumed nothing would go wrong and never tried to repair things early. So while the tinkerer has lots of minor problems, the bmw rider had a few major ones which could have been prevented with 'basic maintenance'. Which bike is more reliable? Neither really. The tinkerer could have let his bike run into the ground to a point that his basic mechanical skills could not fix it, and thus have as few problems as the bmw rider (and then need to bring it to a shop). Or the bmw rider could have done regular maintenance and not ever experience those major problems.

I guess the point is that some people ride because they love bikes and everything about them, others ride because the like the idea of riding a bike and nothing else. (Pirsig, author of zen, attributes this to the 'classical' and 'romantacs' view of bikes)

(p.s. though I strongly recommend this book it is a 'thinker book' and not a light read - one where you have to digest each chapter after it is read. There is an online version at http://home.vicnet.net.au/~whittlse/zen/Index.htm, though I could not think of reading the book online)
