    How badly messed up is it? Rust? Dents?
    I've seen some pretty impressive stuff done with pulling and repairing dents!

    Very badly rusted. Had a mechanic look at it, way too much crap in it <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

    So there's no actual damage to the tank itself aside from rust?
    I reckon you could fix it... then use one of those marine coatings on the inside of the tank to line it. Wait for TBone to see this thread and he'll have a couple of suggestions for you.

    Actualy I have seen a tank once which was so badly rusted it was leaking... Hmm come to think of it I have not seen a GPX tank that does not leak!!

    i would say try the resin tank kit fix thing... it will strenghten the tank walls as well as plug up any holes...

    If it is not leaking there are other methods... like a marine primer (though I still need to find out if it is any specific one)

    Hmmm... blowtorch + gas tank = crappy weld

    I'd say you were lucky.
