    Hi Guys,

I went to take my FZR (3LN) for a ride this morning and when I went to shift into second gear for the first time it flatly refused to go into gear. I attempted a few times, but I couldn't get it to engage (basically stuck in neutral). Anyway rode it back home in first. It would go into neutral and back into first again.

Had a bit of a look once home, nothing obvious jamming the shifter. I was able to get it to change through all the gears by hand, motor off, with a lot of force. No chance by foot.

The clutch adjustment seems ok, ie. it doesn't stall or rev low when in gear and pulled in.

The last time I rode the bike, everything seemed fine. I haven't been riding it all that often of late, so it might be a month since it was ridden.

Has anyone had any similar problems or got any ideas of a simple fix before I go and strip the thing down and have a look inside.

BTW, can you access the box with the motor in, or will it have to come out?

    TIA

    Nathan

I'd start with Checking the oil level and condition, the stripping down the clutch. Really easy to do.

To look at the gearbox, you have to split the cases. Not for the beginner.

I think it's sorted now. I stripped the shifter and sproket cover, gave it all a really good clean and lube and put it back together.
