Depends on the tyre profile, road conditions, atmospheric conditions, riding style, personal preference and suspension setup; so your rather simple question is quite an open ended one.

Without providing all of the aforementioned information i run 37psi front and 40psi rear with Metzeler M3's for day to day riding, and lower them 3psi front and rear if im going hard in the hills.

I think the main thing to keep in mind with that post is that they're talking larger bikes and larger tyres. It doesn't really help with our 250c c minitures.

They did mention that 400c c gray imports run lower though - 29 / 36, so i imagine that 250c c will be quite similar. I've always been happy with my 32 / 36, but maybe I'll lower the front a little bit and see how the handling changes.

... and ill say again that tyre pressures are dependent upon alot of different things. For example the 'previous gen' of tyre compounds such as the Metz M1 that i used to use are far more likely to overheat when running higher pressures (above 40psi) than the new gen of tyres such as the Pilot Powers or Metz M3's. This has alot to do with the carcas construction, compound and profile of the tyre as each tyre has different temperatures for their peak operational range.

Given i keep changing tyre brands/models i've noticed that each tyre has a particular sweet spot for pressures which will give the feedback required aswell as an apparently optimal amount of grip. I've never had much of a problem with grip as i highly value the feedback from the tyres to let me know whats happening at the road surface.

My quick list for tyres and pressures just on my FZR1000...
    Metzeler M1's - 35/38
    Metzeler M3's - 37/40
    Pirelli Diablo's - 35/38
    Pirelli Diablo Strada's - 36/40
    Michelin Pilot Powers - 34/39

As has been said the smaller bikes (ie FZR250) will run significantly lower pressures than the larger bikes. This is mostly due to tyre profile/size as well as the weight and power output of the bike. If i recall i used to run 32/~36 on my 3LN-3 with the preload set to 7. In the end i was compensating for lack of suspension adjustments through tyre pressure which is never a good thing.
