A mate of mine has a Kawasaki (about 15 years old) and he said that he has to turn the fuel to 'off' when he is not using the bike as some fuel can get down and flood the engine.

Should I be doing this with the fzr?

shouldn't be necessay unless the bike will be unused for a length of time (say 30 days or more?), or you have a problem with the tap.
