which exhaust is it? Is it the black one or a silver one? other? Could you polish it up to a nice and shiny state?

I've been led to believe that you can get the can's 'resurfaced' by either adding another sheet of aluminium to the outside and having it riveted on; or you can remove the existing outer skin and replace it. Obviously you won't have the EXUP etch on it, but i wouldnt really be bothered too much.

If it is the black one; i'd get it sandblasted and either polish it up a treat or re-paint it black again. On the other hand, you could go to a wrecker and pick up an aftermarket pipe off another bike. On a little 2fiddy it doesnt really make much difference. I'd highly recommend getting the carb's atleast adjusted if not rejetted if you do get another exhaust though.

I've got a straight through slip-on can on my 3LN, and it sounds like an absolute howler! I went riding with a 2KR FZR (stock zorst) and a Suzuki Across (also stock zorst) and was told that they couldn't hear their bikes when we were cruising along at ~60km/h... only mine. <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_roll.gif" alt="" title="Rolling LoL" /><!-- s:roll: -->

    Re: EXUP??

Usually the exhaust won't be the source of any problems so don't be worried about it not working well (except on 2-strokes - they can cause problems and do need maintenance very irregularly).

If all you want to do is polish it up a bit I suggest using siver-o or brass-o (any decent metal polish).

    Re: EXUP??

Or if its scratched to buggery... break out the various grade sandpapers starting at about 400, then working your way up with 800, 1200, 1600, 2500, then possibly higher if you can get your hands on it.

Once finished it should be as shiny as it ever was... then its time for the Brasso. ;)
