Coffs Harbour. Had my bike outside for a while since the garage was full of crap. Then we had good week of hard rain. Rain finished, went to start the bike, would not kick over. Had a dead battery, replaced. Still would not kick over. Left it for a few days. Starter came up for a visit, so we drained the carbs. Very clear, non-smelling liquid poured out through all the carbs. Hmmmmmm WATER! Drained all carbs, fuel tank, flush lines. Water in the tank, placed a couple of litres of metho to absorb water and clean tank. Used a electric pump to drain tank, come out very rusty. Re-washed tank with metho and drained, liquid was almost clear. Filled tank with fuel, replaced on bike, and after all the carbs and lines were full off fuel she started!. Yipeeee. Now the bike does not have near the performance before, soon as it hits 10,000 rpm slugs its way eventually upto 18,000. So time form a carbie overhaul. Pictures follows Not Good. Stay tune for the second thrilling installment.
just wanted to ask about something in the photos- the first photo and the front view. There are 2 'breathers' (top of first photo) with a round plastic plug on them (again, top of front view) I just wanted to check- are these like breathers to plug into the 3ln airbox to burn excess fuel vapours? I have the 3LN carbs on the 2KR and forgot to check the 3LN airbox before i tossed it. Cheers Brad
The two 'breathers' that are to the top of the first picture are AFAIK just meant to stay folded forwards (& down) like you see in the picture. I'm curious as to the fuel pump there though... the one with the chalk marks of FZR250. Anyone else care to enlighten me as to if they have a gravity feed or a fuel pump as i'm 99.999% positive mine is gravity feed.
nice work with the photo's thanks for that <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s -->
Koma Both my 2KR and 3LN have a fuel pump The mechanic i have gotten to know reckons they all had one from the factory and people just removed and didnt replace them when they stopped working because of cost. here just for answering my question i'll give you mine a little freeby just pay for postage and its yours.
