Hi all, it's a little while since I have put pen to paper (finger to keyboard?). I have taken on board all the advice that's been offered here. Having delved through countless tech. pages, it would seem that the recommended oil should be 20w50. I had filled the sump with 10w40, this being the type used in most other Hondas because of the method of camshaft bearings, plain, running directly in the alloy head. Of course the GB250 is ball and roller bearings everywhere, so oil was drained, and replaced with 20w50 SF grade. The result being that after a fairly rapid 60kms run with the outside temp. @ 28 degrees, the head had only a slight bit of moisture on it, and a few pinhead spits on my right boot. My conclusion being that if I rip it apart, it's a hellish job to obtain parts, it's going to take a long while, and as I'm 75 years old I want to ride it and the 400 for as long as Mother Nature will allow. Last week I took the 400/4 away for a few days with a mate, and at the end I had a few oil splats on my left boot, which I think gives me a fairly well balanced outlook to my motorcycling life. Stay safe, and stay upright everyone. Mike.

Greetings one a and all, the weather here in Blighty means the riding days are reducing in number, and the incontinence on the GB250 now exceeds mine!! I think the time is approaching to instal it on the hydraulic ramp. The leak seems to be most prominent at the front/right of the head gasket, so I guess the ramp will have to suffice as a set of gallows, and a beheading will commence soon. I am able to access gaskets/seals etc down to and including the head gasket, but am having problems finding the correct cylinder base gasket. The listings show two part Nos. for this, before and after a certain engine No. The only gasket available is deemed not suitable for my engine, is there anybody who can possible tell me what the change was to this base gasket. I do not actually intend to lift the barrel, but I believe in the Law of Sod, which says that if I do not have a gasket then the barrel will move as I lift the head! Any help would be gratefully received. Regards from the Northern Hemisphere. Mike.
