Got my bike back last night after getting Heaps of stuff done to it. it runs really well, but now the temp guage isnt working. it comes up from rest when i turn the ignition on, but while riding it doen not move (even after the 20 min run i just gave it on the freeway). has anyone else had this problem? Just trying my luck for an easy fix before i go fishing for a new thermostat. Hayden
Check the water level in the radiator quickly!!! If the water level is too low, or even worse... if there is no water in the radiator then the thermostat won't budge. Lets just say a mate with a ZZR found out the hard way.
Read this post on how to check temperature gauge sender and gauge. http://fzr250.com/viewtopic.php?t=2068&highlight= Although it could be a wire off the sender unit.
TEMP GAUGE CHECK FOR LOOSE WIRING CONNECTIONS ON SENDER UNIT, I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND CLEAN UP ANY CORROSION ON THE CONTACTS.
Thanks for the tip koma, but i am paranoid and the water level was the first thing i checked. Just looked at the thermo unit and it turns out it was corrosion on the (i think) earth wire. Im just glad it was an easy fix.
