I know that the fizzer is meant to run hot, but the other day I saw the pointer being at the little square (not exactly at 'H' but pretty damn close to it). Instead of checking if the fan is running i switched the engine off fearing that i might overheat her. Just wondering from your expiriences, what is the furtherest the little gauge pointer got to on your bike??

the fan on the 2KR will kik in as soon as it reaches the red... on the 3LN I do belive it kiks in sooner... most 2KRs I'v come accross have a switch somwere that turns the fan on...

I had mine go beyond the H and I swear I thought my bike was going to explode.. it was so hot that day and I was stuck in the motorway tunnel.. as soon as I got out, it started to cooldown. Anyhows I had my radiator fluid change and fans check.. mechanic said it was all fine.. and I never had it over heat past H again since then.

Spot on from my experience. On the 2kr it will get virtually into the red before the fan kicks in, and then it will usually drop just below. It caught me out a few times initially when i got the bike - i'd pull over and shut it down but it seems thats just the way the bike is designed. She runs hot.
I never damaged the engine by the way.
